Hi all just wondering if anyone can help, I'm new to this and have no idea how it works and am in need of advise. Thing is I finished my period on Sunday (20/4/14) and my boyfriend and I had sex on Monday (21/4/14) and since Wednesday (23/4/14) I've been getting light cramping, lower back ache and I feel like I'm going to start my period again. Since I came off my birth control 3 months ago I've been getting really light cramping a few days after I finish my period. I never thought anything of it but it's making me feel uncomfortable this time. I'm really confused as I've always thought I ovulated 2 weeks after my I finish my period and have been trying to concieve according to that but no luck. Could that have changed due to birth control?

HI There

It sounds like the cramping could be down to ovulation. I have no idea when i ovulated before i went onto the pill and have just come off of it after 8 years. From what i remember Pre-Pill my cycle was around 23-25 days long and very regular. I have had 3 cyles since coming of the pill in Jan and it has settled into a fairly regular pattern (yes lucky I know) at around 28 days, varying by a day or so. I ovulated cycle day 15 in Feb and day 13 this month.

Its a common misconception that all woman ovulated in the middle of their cycle ( i really don't mean that to sound condescending or anything though). All my friends are of similar impression. I looked it up and found one example of a lady who ovulated while actually on her period. She had been trying to conceive for 3 years and said no wonder she had no joy as of course they had not been doing the deed during her period then then tried doing it from around cycle day 3 and she fell pregnant.

The cramping could also be your body adjusting to coming off of birth control.

Would you be happy to use opks to try and pinpoint when it is for you ? as it really is hard to tell for sure. Wish you the best of luck :)

xxxx
