Unusual periods after miscarriage?

Last year in December I had a miscarriage whilst 11 weeks pregnant. Upon the examination my doctor told me that I had a missed miscarriage and no developments were happening since week 5. My husband and I were devastated, as I thought I had a very healthy pregnancy and was so careful. Then, the miscarriage itself happened and it was emotionally and physically horrendous. I had to spend 4 days in hospital. After that my physical recovery was fairly quick. I waited for two periods to pass just like the doctor recommended and started trying again in March. Those first two periods were very normal, which made me think my body recovered and I was ready to try again.
Since then, I was sure twice that I was pregnant a week before my period, feeling sick and throwing up, sore breasts, bloated (more than I previously was when coming on), exactly how I felt when I was pregnant the first time, but the tests were negative and I got my period a few days later. Both times, however, I was experiencing strong back pain, similar to what I had during the miscarriage and bleeding was a lot heavier than normal.

I don't know what to think, could it be that I was having miscarriages both times? Has anyone had similar experience and can advise what might be the cause of this?

First of all I am so sorry for your loss Sad

I had a natural early mc on February 1st. Mine was slow and took me a good 5/6 weeks to show a negative on an hpt. I am on cd2 of my third period since my mc and I can certainly relate to the weird changes on the run up to AF. I now get a lot of cramping and bloating the week before my period comes although my bleed is normal.

I am off to the doctor in the next two weeks to get a smear test done and have a chat about the cramps. I suspect I will be told it's still early days and your body is trying to regulate itself again.

I have just started to take Maca root which is meant to help regulate hormones, but I couldn't tell you if it will help me or not. I am also aware that in my case (I'm 39) there could be an element of peri-menopause creeping in.

Do you chart your temps or anything to check you are ovulating normally?

Thank you sebsmummy1 and I'm sorry for you loss.
I only check my ovulation through an app I got on my iPhone. As my periods are fairly regular I just make sure we start trying from day 10 up until day 18/19 just to be sure. I might try and get one of these ovulation kits from boots for next time.

Thank you and good luck with trying as well.

I am having an odd period and it is my second period after a miscarriage. the first was ok and I was glad to that normal resetting process was happening.

this one is very heavy and pain lasting much longer than normal. yesterday quite randomly I had a nose bleed and was just really pissed off with bleeding.

good luck with the future.
