Paying for a scan......

Reckon i'm 4-6 weeks, me and dh trying to decide whether to book a early scan 8 weeks as we mc in november think for myself and peace of mine might help and not go the long hall to 12-13 weeks scan to find out again our baby has no heart beat.... Although the doctor may book me in early i don't know.. Suppose i will find out tomorrow! Just need some advise ideas

Emphasise to your doctor/GP how worried you are and you really would like a reassurance scan due to your previous mc. Hopefully they will book you in sooner - that's what I did and had scan at 8 weeks. Good luck - I know how anxious a time it can be xx

I had a mmc last year found out our baby died at 8+6 at the 12 week scan, I found out I was pregnant in Jan this year and paid for a private scan somewhere between 7 and 8 weeks.

I asked the dr for one, as when I mmc the midwives assured me I could recieve one if I fell pregnant again. But my dr refused to refer me.

Although I felt relief seeing the little heart beat I wish now I had waited till 9-10 weeks to have the scan, as my last baby we would have seen a hb at that stage, so I still worried a little till the 12 week scan! Happily the baby is fine. I am 17+4 now!

I was in the same predicament. I found out I was pregnant after only a week of trying so found it really hard to take in. I booked a private scan at 9 week's pregnant just to get peace of mind. best thing we could of done, even though I still had to wait till 12 weeks to see a baby outline it was worth it. (what I mean by that great 9 week's it just looks like a kidney bean!) I would say go for it then you can enjoy

Well my dp isn't going to be here for our first scan he is gutted :( he is working away at the moment and cant get travel to come! My nan is chuming me thankfully as my mums on holiday!! Lucky coo!! My dp is back the week before the scan or 2 weeks before our scan on 28th may so i reckon we will book a early private scan! 80 pound its worth it for that peace of mind i think and of course for my dp who is missing 12 week scan. Althout i reckon il only be 10 weeks, so il be 8 if that if we book an early but least its getting me by so i dont worry anymore. I have midwifes first app on 6th may, i will ask her.

Be aware that the scan might be internal - warn your nan!
