Just a bit of background information. TTC No. 1 cycle 16. Diagnosed pcos last year after blood test and only 1 AF in 12 months.

1st hospital appointment confirmed pcos and prescribed clomid booked in for scans to check ovaries.

2nd appointment scans done

Returned 3 months later after 3 cycles of clomid. No bfp and given another 3 cycles of clomid however I havent needed it because the first lot of clomid has triggered my body into natural periods so far.

Any idea on if and what will happen at my appointment next week? Im hoping something will be done but not sure if there is anything else they will offer just yet?

Thanks in advance!

Stupid question, but do you know you are ovulating? I don't have PCOS and was having periods (and temps and opks suggested I was ovulating) but after 19 months of nothing I got a bfp on my first round of clomid. It's supposed to give you an extra boost. My bfp didn't last unfortunately, and the clomid didn't work for me again, but I thought it was just worth mentioning that clomid isn't just for women who don't have periods.

Also, where I am, you can't get any further until you have taken 6 rounds of clomid, so if you don't want to take any more you may or may not want to admit that to the FC.... Next step for us was onto the IUI waiting list after 2 years ttc.

Thanks for replying!

Its not that I dont want to take the Clomid its just that my specialist advised me not too if I had periods. I honestly cant tell if I am ovulating or not.

I thought it could possibly be iui but because of the clomid I didnt know if they would do that. I will ask if I can take the clomid anyway

How are you getting on with the wait?

If your specialist advised you not to I assume you don't have a stupid hoop to jump through then! Smile The process is so different according to where you are in the country.

I've just got to the top of the list! First appointment is in 3 weeks Grin.

woodwaj · 11/04/2014 16:24

I know its daft isn't it. Good luck! How long did you have to wait to get that appointment?

Only half the 18 weeks we were told it could be Grin . But it took 6 months between referral and getting the clomid then another 5 months after the mc for the next fc appointment. A lot of waiting! Just hoping the IUI appointment means it's starting, it's not just a first appointment and another wait!

Sorry to just jump on your thread here but just interested reading some of this. I've wondered about the positive opks but not ovulating barking, that is possible then? I am 20 cycles in and used opks in the past giving positive results but two blood tests at 21 days show levels low indicating no ovulation. Wasn't sure what was happening there...

Process is so different across the country! Next appointment here is May and not sure what we will get!

woodwaj · 11/04/2014 20:41

It is just a horrible slow process isnt it.

that sounds really odd dulcet! Is this your first appointment?

It's second appointment with fertility clinic in May. Was at GP in sept, clinic in Jan and now back in May. Again, more time and waiting...

barkingtreefrog · 11/04/2014 22:26

dulcet the +opk just tells you there has been a surge in LH, but this can happen without ovulation. For example in some women with long cycles they can have more than one LH surge and might ovulate on the last one. It's like it gears up and tries but just doesn't get there so goes back to have another run up! I temp as well so I can spot whether I've had the temp rise. I don't think you'd get a temp rise if you didn't ovulate but you could still get a +opk, hence why lots of women do both.

DulcetMoans · 12/04/2014 08:31

Thanks barking! I haven't tried temping. Just hasnt appealed to me. Will look into it in order to get an answer though, just not sure what's going on!

sherbertlemon17 · 12/04/2014 09:04

Hi Dulcet, just thought I'd share my experience with you in terms of not ovulating... I have all the symptoms of ovulation: sore boobs, ewcm, cramps & slight nausea but am yet to have a period in the 3.5 months since coming off the pill. Confused

Like everyone else it seems I'm now WAITING for an ultra sound to pick up PCOS.
