False positives on FRER

Okay, ladies. I did something stupid. I peed on a stick at 9/10dpo.

Background; PCOS since 2003, one accidental daughter in 2010, been trying since Xmas 2011 with no avail. On clomid, this is our second to last cycle.

Had many months where my body delighted in trolling me with pregnancy symptoms during the 2ww. So much so that people actually asked if I was. Each month- nada. Not even an evap line.

This month, nothing bar a bit of tiredness (but we're refitting a kitchen), backache (but we're refitting a kitchen), and major irritability (did I mention refitting a kitchen?). Temps are massively up by a degree, but I didn't temp pre ovulation this month. There was a dip of nearly a degree at 7dpo but I did have the door open when temping.

So, today I Poas (FRER). It was leftover from last month, I don't know why I did it and when it was still blank 2 mins later I just binned it and merrily went on my way. 10 mins later though, a tiny squinter of a line has appeared. I've broken open the casing and although it's so faint you'd miss it, there are pink dye stains around the edge (if that makes sense) so I'm definitely not making it up this time!

My question; (sorry!) what do evap lines look like on first responses? And could I get a false positive on clomid/this early/wanting it so much?

I'm not getting my hopes up, I reckon the sticks are in cahoots with the symptom troll.

ohhhh exciting, I hope its good news for you!! Sorry I really can't help with your actual question, but I sincerely hope its a positive positive Grin

sounds like you probably have to wait a few days and poas again. fingers crossed!

StrawbRhi · 10/04/2014 16:22

Thanks, Keep!
I'm going to test again on sat/sun and just avoid alcohol at the party we're going to.

If it was within the 10minutes read time then is more than likely a +ve, if outside the 10 minutes then you really need to disregards any lines until you can test again with FMU and watch it to see if you get a result in the time window.

Clomid is a cow isn't it - the month I was up to the eyeballs with symptoms, AF arrived 3 days late. The month I had no symptoms we conceived!

Can you play the 'driving' card? I think our friends think DH is a little mean always making me drive [grins]

StrawbRhi · 10/04/2014 16:33

Haha, that's the plan. It'll be easy too, seeing as I've recently bought a new car and like to drive at every opportunity!

Blueberry- isn't it just?! I kept googling the symptoms only to find ANOTHER side affect of Clomid :/

Unfortunately, I have no idea if it was in the time limit. Toddler decided to play with the tin of gloss.

Will test again on Saturday with fmu, and feeling dubious until then. Hoping someone will tell me if first responses are known for falsies or evaps though.

Treaclepie19 · 10/04/2014 16:42

Oops sorry! O

Treaclepie19 · 10/04/2014 16:42

Oops sorry! Obviously

Treaclepie19 · 10/04/2014 16:43

My phone is going mad! Test again when you can but i have never even had a smudge even after the time limit on a frer :) good luck!

StrawbRhi · 10/04/2014 16:52

Thank you for the positivity! I hope this is our month but have pretty much given up all hope to be honest.

Ironically, if this is what we hope it to be, the EDD would be Christmas Eve...

DD is a Christmas Day baby.

I'm keeping everything crossed for you!!! please update us when you next POAS :)

Squeakybeaky · 10/04/2014 20:51

Just want to say good luck :) I don't think you can get Evans on FRERs to hopefully its positive :) I got lines a couple of months ago at 9/10 DPO but unfortunately it wasn't a sticky :( it was still telling the truth though. Xx

mattsmama · 10/04/2014 21:40

Hi. - just to let you know that I have NEVER EVER had a false positive on a first response and believe me I have POAS A LOT and a lot of first response! I should have shares in them! I have even kept old ones and gone back to look at them and never had a whisper of a second line/evaporation line. Good luck and do keep us updated!! x

StrawbRhi · 10/04/2014 22:00

Thanks all, the line seems to have faded a bit now and it's hard to see. Even DH was skeptical when he took a look and he's more keen than I am!

I've taken Bajillions of tests and never had anything like this, but I can't say I'm feeling very positive. Will test again with fmu on sat and post results (because I hate unresolved threads!)

The line do fade over time, which is why they have a time limit on them. Good luck tomorrow.

StrawbRhi · 14/04/2014 12:57

Okay, after 5 long days, an inordinate amount of worry and 6 more barely there lines I have found out today that I am definitely pregnant!

Lines on Tesco and First response tests were still very faint this morning but Clearblue plus has a strong cross, and Clearblue digital has the most beautiful "pregnant 1-2 weeks" I've ever seen.

Ridiculously happy, but remaining cautious for these early weeks.

Thank you all for your support!

CONGRATULATIONS!!! Thanks

Just seeing this thread for first time but didn't want to let your good news go unanswered!

I remember throwing away a "negative" test with my first, then checking it later and seeing a line Smile

WishUponAStar88 · 14/04/2014 13:02

Yay congratulations and good luck!

keeponjuggling · 14/04/2014 15:09
