Poor Morpology

Hi all

I'm new to mumsnet but not to TTC, been at it for nearly two years unsuccessfully and just got the ball rolling with tests. my man's semen analysis (after a 5 day abstinence) came back pretty poor, mainly the morphology at 1% the GP said that he may have abstained for too long so he did another sample (still waiting the results) but the guy at the clinic said the morphology wasn't likely to change. our GP seemed to think IVF would be the only option.. has anyone got any experience in this area? I'm not looking for babydust just some good advice.

Hi maybe. I think your doc is right first off - DH abstained too long. Next, conception vits for men can make a big difference (this takes about three months). Finally, no matter the other two comments, all men get two sa because the numbers always vary (and the variance can be quite a bit). Wait til the next test but get on the vits and try not worry. Good luck.

My DH has low morphology and I have endo. We had our first ICSI treatment last year. The result is 5 months old currently fast asleep on me! I wasn't told at my clinic it was any less of a chance with low morphology, just tat we would have to have ICSI rather than IVF. My DH quit alcohol and caffeine and started on the well man vitamins. It won't change the morphology but it did impove the quality if his sperm.

thanks m33r. I've bought him some wellman vits. were hoping the 2nd analysis will be better. the appointment letter he had to attend the clinic said to abstain for 3-7 days that's why he went for 5. the new sample was 2.5 days which the GP advised.
