So I couldn't find a May thread, so I thought I'd start one for all of us who have dropped off the April thread.

Aunty arrived this morning so I 've just started cycle 4. TTC #2. Just had a long cycle so if this is the same length my most fertile time will be over Easter weekend.

So I might go all pagan and invoke some Spring fertility goddess. Or something. Or piss on some sticks.

?? Good luck, Spring Goddesses.

Wow just saw your post star. So glad you got it confirmed this morning. So so happy for you! How long had you been ttc for?

kurama · 27/04/2014 07:59

kai malcome oswald woolass.... lol suppose it doesnt look too bad. same as skylar nellie constance... lol gotta love grandparents names I suppose. not bothered about outing self as dont think anyone I know is on hereGrin

Starbright24 · 27/04/2014 08:09

Duchess - I have had no contraception for a year. I havebeen ttrying for that long but dp wasn't completely so dtd was a bit sporadic. Been properly ttc since the new year when I had a tantrum and got upset with him and told him we needed to make more effort (ages 38 and 41 - today! - so not a lot of dtd generally)

This cycle. Dtd 2 days before ov. Ov day and 2 days after. Only 3 times in total. Tmi?

I put it down to my big heap of pine cones I collected which as downstairs and 1 beside my bed - fertilitysymbols Smile

victoria401 · 27/04/2014 08:15

Congrats star! We dtd only 3 times last month on those exact days with no bfp. I'm off to get some pine cones! Oh actually can you even get them in the spring? Are they an autumn winter thing? Noooooo

Awww thanks for thinking of me duchess, appreciate it :-)

theduchesse · 27/04/2014 08:27

Totally not tmi star. That's exactly what I like to hear about dtd. I work day shift, DH works night shift and we have a toddler so we spend half the week taking it in turns to be in the house - someone needs to invent long distance dtd.

rambini · 27/04/2014 08:29

Congratulations star really happy for you!
kurama we are ok on grandads names, both are nice (George and Thomas) but grandmothers names are both a bit old fashioned.
Quick quesrion. I am SOOOO confused. I usually have approx 36 day cycles. So according to my phone app and common sense I should ov about 2 weeks before eg day 22. I have just started using cfafm this month and poas this morning (cycle day 8) and got a high?! Im now massively confused. We dtd anyway (any excuse!) But does this mean i ov MUCH earlier than I thought? Wouldnt that mean my LP was like 4 weeks?! Aaarrgh?!

EnglishGirlAbroad · 27/04/2014 08:44

Linda - I'd say looking at your chart you ov'd at cd17, before the rise. Wouldn't worry about your temp neing the same. Are you using a basal body tmp thermometer? With 2 decimal points??

Kurama - what about Ossie? Better than Oswald. I have my nans name as one of my middle names... it's awful. My mum regrets it now. But the whole congregation at my wedding (Myself included) giggle when I had to say my full name!!

Rambini - you might just be having an early ov month... Or you could have a few more days of 'highs'. Either way its highly unlikely you'll have a 4 week LP! Your Lp in general doesn't change, will be the same regardless of when you ov.

Congrats againa Star!! Full stats please!!

MrsExtraOrdinary · 27/04/2014 08:53

I'd happily stick to mrs bottom on here if it made my real name slightly better. When I found out dh had the said name I roared with laughter. In fact he didn't tell me he just showed me his driving licence. Little did I know I would have it one day Shock. It's important to him i was prepared to use it. His own older children have their mothers name. Not double barrelled she completely excluded him from anything to do with their names. So when our ds was born it was the first that took his silly name. Tbh the only ones that laugh are dhs other dc. Probably been drummed into them by their mum being cruel. So the first name has to be utterly brilliant! Grin

kurama · 27/04/2014 09:23

mrsE if it makes u feel better I know someone whos surname is sidebottom! I think thats worse lol. ossie may be a contender. my middle name is constance as well as its nans first name. any girl will def have either nellie (dhs late nans name) or her nickname jean Grin

www.soulcysters.net/showthread.php/222136-pine-cones-and-fertility crazy americans I think

am very intrigued mrse Smile

Stats - age 38, ttc#1, cycle 5. BFP was due 1 May.
(only counting cycles from this year - cycle length 25 days)

I only collected my pine cones a couple of weeks ago after reading some daft forum (haha, it wasn't ours which is of course very sensible) and it was a lovely day for a walk

EnglishGirlAbroad · 27/04/2014 09:27

I had a teacher called Mrs Winterbottom! Got the nickname Chilly Arse!!

Love Constance!

EnglishGirlAbroad · 27/04/2014 09:29

No star... your dtd stats! The most important ones! Wink

MrsExtraOrdinary · 27/04/2014 09:34

If and when I get a bfp I will out myself with my real last name. Because I'm going to need all the help I can to find a fabulous boys name that overshadows the last name and one of the 11 I haven't previously used, lolGrin

I was born with a perfectly lovely maiden name, I had for 22 years, I then married an unusual name and proceeded to own that name (which I quite liked) although not completely without comedy for 10 years, to the last 2 years with the most ridiculous name in the world. But it was a choice to take it and important for dh. I remind him how lovely I am most of the time Grin

Starbright24 · 27/04/2014 09:38

Dp woke up unwraped presents. I showed him stick. He grunted then carried on reading his car magazine. Meh!!
Wow! Lol

MrsExtraOrdinary · 27/04/2014 09:39

He might need a few hours for it to sink in or days, weeks and months as some men do.

mrshjb · 27/04/2014 09:45

Congratulations star!! :)

toothachereturns · 27/04/2014 09:46

Yeeeeeah Star! !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!Grin Grin Grin Grin

lindamagoo · 27/04/2014 09:54

Yay congrats star Thanks

English thank you, I thought I maybe ov'd a little later, damn got longer to wait for BFP now, lol

Spotti · 27/04/2014 10:11

Woooo star Grin.

I'm on day 10 here. First month using IC OPKs and since I'm not entirely sure when I OV, I've been using them since AF buggered off and already I'm bored! I never thought I'd say I'm bored of POAS, but OPKs are no where near as much fun as HPTs! Maybe the expensive smiley bastardsticks ones are more fun? Either way I've still only got the one line so I'm holding off DTD just yet - OH keeps hinting at doing it 'just for funsies' but I know what he's like and he'll lose interest/get distracted by the time my double line appears...I have a 35 day cycle and technically (according to the MN calculator thingymabob) could OV any time between day 12-14 which is what my cervix and EW Lucas showed me last month and day 22-24 soooooo it's either a 10 day shagathon (which OH says he's up for, but in reality life will definitely get in the way at some point probably the crucial few days) OR we hold off until we know we're targeting the right few days and then get on it like Sonic!

Wouldn't it be nice if TTC was just like eBay with a 'buy it now' button that we could click and then be done with it. I mean all this waiting around is hard enough, but then even when we get our sticky BFP, we've got 8/9 more months to wait before we get to meet our little dragons! Hmph. Can anyone tell I'm having an 'why can't things just go to plan?' sort of day Wink

toothachereturns · 27/04/2014 10:26

I seem to get weird fluctuating positive opk results. I've given up with those. Hmm

I'm on cd11 of a 28 day cycle. DH is always up for dtd...Annoyingly so at times!!!!! He's quite a bit older than me at 50 but it doesnt impede his horniness which is handy when ttc. But he had a vasectomy reversal last year.... and although his sperm results came back good, we were still warned that it may take longer. Confused

Anyone got any experience of people conceiving after a vasectomy reversal?

LadyCottington · 27/04/2014 11:37

Can I join you ladies? Currently on my TWW and it's driving me nuts. BFP is due on the 2nd but I have a day off tomorrow so might pop into town to get a test. I've been having crazy symptoms but I'm trying not to get my hopes up too much!

gennibugs · 27/04/2014 12:40

Hello again to some very familiar faces and not so familiar.

I am now on the May bus due to AF hitting this morning. I have cried my tears, dusted myself off and ready to start again.

Stats are ttc#1 cycle 5 (for our 2013 attempt anyway!) BFP due 26 may. Which seems like such a long way away.

Plan for this month is to lose weight, reduce my stress levels by trying reflexology and just DtD more. Which is easier said than done but will try.

ChaircatMiaow · 27/04/2014 12:46

Congrats star!

Spotti that is so true, if only a bfp could be bought on eBay!

wannabesedated · 27/04/2014 13:05

Can I join? Been waiting ages to feel ready to try for #2 (initially thought we'd start this time last year but got The Fear when it came round) and I finally do, so am going to start shagging tonight. Day 11 now, hopefully we are in time to have a proper go this cycle.

Congratulations star!

ChandlersFarang · 27/04/2014 13:26

Rambini - I used the CBFM for the first time this cycle as I told you earlier and also got a high reading on day 8. This stayed high all the way until day 25 when it gave up and stopped asking for sticks. I read that this is quite common as it starts to get used to your cycle... I actually ovulated on day 29!! It's annoying as it was an expensive purchase, but everything I was suggested it will settle down after a couple of cycles and get to know what levels of hormones are usually in your pee etc. It's very annoying though as we basically shagged ourselves to death all month and were almost too done in to manage many when I actually was fertile (I used OPKs after day 25). I'm not saying the exact same thing will happen to you as the above, but I did read it's quite a common problem on the first cycle. Sounds like you know better than the machine on this one! Hope this helps!! X x x
