Has anyone done home insemination or turkey baster method?

DH and I are going to give this a whirl soon. This is due to him having erectile ishoos and me having weird cervix.

Can anyone give me any technical tips? Did you allow the sperm to "settle" in the cup or receptacle before insertion? What syringes did you use? Did you aim at your cervix?

Any experience or help really, really gratefully received - we have been talking about this for ages but now going to go for it!

here goes....keep cup/container and syringe warm beforehand(underarm, between breasts) after he did the deed he put the lid on the cup and sat it on a covered hot water bottle, time between that and insem prob 5-10mins. for insems lie a towel on the bed, lay still, prop pelvis with a pillow. go steady when inserting the full sysringe, don't release it too fast as it can spurt back out(!), slowly and I think holding my breath helped as it kept everything down there still!, after releasing the semen insert a softcup and leave in overnight.

Oooh thank you! Can I assume from your nickname that you have been a surrogate mum?

If so I think that is a fantastic thing to do Flowers

I have a retroverted cervix / tilted uterus so I am worried everything just sort of dribbles the wrong way. I have a mooncup though so will use that.

May I ask, do you try to find the cervix or just sort of shoot in the right direction and hope?

Thank you again xx

Hello my dh and I tried this last month we just tried it as a giggle really as we've been trying awhile and no luck so we thought it couldn't hurt to give it a whirl! We bought a baby medicine syringe u can buy from chemists.
Sterilised it first, dh did his business in a cup sucked it up in the syringe this is very tricky as u can get air bubbles, dh decided to squirt it back out in the cup to try and get rid of the air bubble but instead it created loads more! So unfortunately it didn't work so if u do do it, make sure u do it very slowly! Have an orgasm and lie down for at least half an hour afterwards I heard it helps!! Grin
Good luck Smile

Not used a turkey baster but I had a tilted uterus and other fertility issues. A nurse friend told me to lie with my legs up the wall after sex - never one for half measures I got DH to hold me up by the ankles and give me a bloody good shaking.

Got a BFP the month before we were due to start IVF.

Hi, me and my hubby did home artificial insemination and the result is a very happy cheeky 20month old.

We are now trying again for another.

We used a speculum which i think made all the difference as hubby can squirt directly onto your cervix. We use a thick needle extension on the suringe, and hubby squirts just inside the OS (opening of the cervix) when at the height of ovulation. Ovulation tests are a must!
