TTC with M.E.

Hi I have had M.E. / C.F.S. for 15 years and for the past 12 months (and counting) have been trying to conceive. I have had all the blood tests / scans and everything is 'ok' I am now on a waiting list for the Fertility Clnic but have been told this could take up to 6 months. My major concern is I'm on amitripyline and my doctor thinks it is best that I stay on this for the moment although all my googling is suggesting to me otherwise. The problem is that it significantly helps with the symptoms (helps the aching joints and sore muscles and most importantly with my sleep pattern).

I just wanted to know if there is anyone out there who has M.E. and / or been on this medication and what they have done. Look forward to hearing from anyone who can help. Many thanks

I've been changed from citalopram to amitriptyline as ttc, benefits far outweigh the risks. Lots more research/ knowledge about amitriptyline as it's been around much longer. Stick with it in my opinion as ttc is stressful enough without dealing with non medicated depression! In my case for sure! I can't offer advice on anything else I'm afraid. Listen to your doctor's! Hope this helps! Smile

Oh, and stay away from Dr Google! Wink

Sorry to keep adding! Amitriptyline is used for millions lots of things hence the research! Grin

I would agree with staying on your meds... I'm going back on ads despite ttc because as misshobart says ttc is stressful enough without having depression/ cfs also! Good luck x
