TTC straight after coming off the pill

Hello all,

I'm planning to come off the pill on 12th April (very exact I know) We were planning on just TTC straight away and not waiting for period. Is this ok? I've heard you have increased fertility immediately after coming off. Have been on cerazette for around 4 years and microgynon for around 5 years before that. Can't wait to come off now and get going!!
Any advise would be very welcome! Thanks in advance.

having a proper period helps to date the pregnancy but I dont know if thats the only reason to hold off for a short while before TTC

I see, thanks for that. I'm guessing they'd be able to do you a scan if you didnt know the date of conception instead maybe, do you think?

Hi there, as far as I'm aware the period thing is for dating the pregnancy and it certainly wont harm if you fall pregnant immediately. I came off the pill last September and we started ttc straght away, I had a withdrawal bleed in October then af in November. I'm now 15wks pregnant so I must have conceived around December time but I wasnt monitoring ovulation so I had to rely on my scan to date me. I had a pleasant surprise because I thought I was about 9wks but I was actually 13wks, turns out my spotting in January was implantation not af as I thought.

Ive been pregnant twice within weeks after coming off the pill had usual bleed when I finished packet but no proper period. Evrrything fine they date pregnancy at 12wk scan I thought I was 12 wks I was 10 wks so had another at 12 wks. Good luck!

We TTC straight away after I came off Cerazette last July. I didn't have a proper period, just a withdrawal bleed and fell pregnant within a couple of weeks. I'm now 36+4 with our first.
I too had read that you should allow your body to return to a normal cycle and have at least one period before starting TTC but think this is just so they can date the pregnancy. It didn't cause me any issues but it was a little annoying having to wait till my first scan before finding out how far gone I was.

i hope it's as quick for me as it was for you guys!
prettyinpink90 that makes me excited as I've heard lots of bad things about coming off cerazette and taking ages - nice to hear a positive story like that :) I bet that dating scan was exciting though! :)

I came off Cerazette in January and have no BFP yet. :-(

I got pregnant whilst actually taking cerazette haha! So I'm sure it'll be fine getting ur bfp when u come off it :)
My lb is healthy and 8 months old now :) we are in our 1st month of ttc#2!

Hey Kitkat I didnt say in my earlier post but I was also on Cerazette prior to ttc. Like you I'd read some horror stories but luckily things settled quickly for me, hopefully its the same for you

And yes it was a biiiig shock for number 1! Only had a suspicion I was pregnant as I threw up when i heard my work colleagues discussing melted chocolate! Which I thought was so weird!

There shouldn't be a problem usually, although the lining of the uterus may be quite thing after coming off the pill, but that should build quickly when you go through your first cycle. It's a myth though that you're more fertile. It may take a few months for your period to show though, that's normal.
