Hi,
I recently posted about experiencing an unexpectedly long cycle after being relatively regular with a 26-28 day cycle since stopping the progesterone only pill in Oct 2013:
(CD35, 8 days late, BFN. Ill earlier in the year - what's going on?!)
As the days ticked by, naturally I had got my hopes up, but after BFNs at 10 and 20 days late, AF showed up 21 days late, following an approximate 45 day cycle.
However since she arrived the flow has been strange.
My usual periods have a heavy day 2-3 requiring a super absorbency tampon, tail off over day 4, and finish with spotting / light brown flow for a further 2 or 3 days. I swap between tampons and pads, as sometimes I have difficulty inserting a new tampon (not sure if I've got a vaginal ridge / low cervix / swelling from the tampons).
This time, day 1, was light and brown as usual. I used pads on day 2 as I was at home all day, but the flow was really slow, hardly marking each pad over a number of hours, and only really obvious when I sat on the toilet, when I would drip dark red blood (sorry - TMI!!!). I've used tampons today, but after a few hours a regular tampon is only partly soaked, and it's still brown rather than red like I would normally expect on day 3.
Anybody experienced anything like this? As mentioned in my other post, I had one strange short bleed (2 days) in January when I was ill, but my next one was the usual 6-7 days, so I just put it down to the illness.
Is there any point in me doing another HPT? Or is that just (very very) wishful thinking....
