Clomid for unexplained infertility

I found a website that said Clomid could be used for unexplained unfertility - a friend has had all the checks come back normal but is failing to conceive, despite pretty regular cycle and ovulation. Would Clomid be worth trying? And has anyone got experience of using Clomid like this (successful experience!)?

I got put on clomid for exactly what you desrive - unexplained infertility.
I fell pregnant naturally the cycle before my clomid wsa due to start!
My obgyn said it can be the kick start your cycle needs
I recommend the book Taking charge of Your fertility by Toni Weschler , I had been ttc no 3 child for 3 yrs
used this book for 3 mths and here I am pregnant!

These days they are not supposed to prescribe Clomid if you have a regular cycle and blood tests show you are ovulating. Because if you are already ovulating, a pill to encourage you to ovulate is not going to help much.
Some consultants might still do so, but according to the latest NICE guidelines they shouldn't.
I have regular cycles and all blood tests come back fine. I have recently had an AMH test and am trying to book a HyCoSy to check for tubal issues. If both of those come back fine the consultant warned us that we will just have to go away and keep trying for another year and a bit, until we hit the 3 year mark when we will be eligible to start looking at IVF.

Exactly what moggle said.

If you look on the infertility forum I think someone posted fairly recently about using Clomid to treat unexplained fertility.

I think the best thing your friend can do is to continue to dtd every 2-3 days and push for further tests as mentioned above. I have known fertility problems but would recommend using a infertility support forum to get advice from people who've been there.

Sometimes not all the checks are done; I would advise your friend that she needs to ensure as far as possible that all the tests on both of them have been done. Who did these checks, the GP or subfertility unit?.

"Unexplained infertility" is infact no diagnosis at all; it simply means that they have failed to find out what is wrong. Sometimes it is a diagnosis given to couples when they as a couple have not been adequately investigated.

Also what Moggle wrote earlier. Clomid should not be prescribed unless there is definitive proof that the woman is not ovulating. It can have the reverse effect otherwise.
