Cheap Interent Test - how many days late before you got a BFP?

I bought some cheap tests over the internet (as I used a 3 for 99p from 99p shop for DS). I am 8 days late and have done 5 tests - all resolutely negative.

With DS I had checked on day 3, nothing; forgot about it and checked again on day 11 and it was BFP.

I am getting the odd similar pg symptom, (mainly heartburn). Nothing seems to be bringing AF on (sh*gging usually effective - sorry if TMI)

Anyway, I am being a cheapskate, but may have to shell out for a test from the chemist (we are in france so will prob be a fortune, hence working my way through the pack of 50 internet cheapies).

So could i be pg and HCG level not strong enough to register on cheap test, or is it the beginning of the menopause? (I am 43...)

I got my BFP 3 days before AF was due using internet cheapies. Does it say on them what level of HCG they can test? Mine were 10MIU (I think the units are, it was definitely 10 something!) which are able to detect very low levels. The higher the number, the further along you would need to be to get a positive.
