Has anyone had fibroids or scar tissue removed from their uterus?

I will be having the op b 4 the end of the year. I need to loose a couple of stones first.
Has anyone had this op? All info welcome..

A friend of mine did, for v. big fibroids, and 6 months later was pregnant with her first baby (now 18 months). She's pregnant again with her second now.

My Mum had it done (removal of large fibroids) and was up and about again within two day and controlling it with pain killers. The only real issue she had was with the general anaesthetic which made her groggy and she thought it was 1980 when she came round. Wouldn't have been a problem but it was 2001. She was like a different woman after the operation- fewer cramps and therefore an improved mood, lighter bleeding and a better control of her hormone and iron levels meaning she could also more easily control her weight.

I have had recurrent m/c's and this op will hopefully improve my chances of holding onto a pregnancy.

hi again oinker - again my friend had the same thing - I hope she doesn't mind my sharing this, I don't even know if she uses Mumsnet.. Anyway, she had a miscarriage too before and then the fibroids were so big that she just couldn't conceive at all. But once they were removed, she got pregnant very quickly once they gave the all clear, and the pregnancy was all fine and smooth. Although she did have to have a scheduled c-section due to the big scarring etc from the op - but that's a tiny tiny downside if you see it as a downside at all!!
