Hi everyone!

So as the title suggests I've still not seen AF since stopping the pill on December 27th! I had a break through bleed from the 1st as expected but since then.... Nothing!

I'm now starting to worry that there's something wrong with me!

Anyone else in a similar boat or got any words or wisdom and advice?

Hi trinpy, sorry to hear about your story, glad it had a happy ending though. Can I ask how do you know when your cycle is annovulatory?

Driveway · 21/03/2014 11:46

I went to the GP and they seemed completely unconcerned. I had some blood tests, all normal, that was it.

sherbertlemon17 · 22/03/2014 08:51

Thanks for the positive story Driveway! Definitely gives me hope... Just hope I don't have to wait as long as that!! I've had a couple of people ask me if I'm pregnant this week (because of symptoms not because I look fat! Haha!) I doubt they're right but hope they are super psychic!!

Thanks for the info Trinpy... At leat I know what the future holds if it gets that far. Hopefully my doctor won't be so reluctant to do blood tests.

Hi IsleofIslay!! Hopefully we can keep each other company until AF arrives Smile

mrshjb - because I was ttc for quite a while I just got used to the signs that I was ovulating, so it became really obvious when it wasn't happening iyswim? But big giveaways that it just wasn't happening were opks that got and stayed at the almost-positive stage but were never truly positive, and cycles that lasted 8 weeks or more. You can also get blood tests done at your gps that show hormone levels at different points in your cycle.

IsleOfIslay · 22/03/2014 13:42

All of you ladies that are waiting it have been waiting for af after stopping the pill, have you had any signs of ovulation? I thought I was ovulating a couple of weeks ago but it didn't come to anything. This morning I have woke up with lots of ewcm so picked up some opks and will test later to see. Sometimes I wish I could just have a good look in there to see what's going on!

sherbertlemon17 · 22/03/2014 16:14

Tbh I'm not sure if I've ovulated or not... Last week I had cramps for a few days with some boob pains and felt like I was coming on. But nothing!

Today and yesterday I've also had some tummy aches. I know something's going on but I don't know what!!

Those of you who didn't have AF for longer, did you have any cramps still?

OP posts:
mrshjb · 22/03/2014 17:07

Thanks for that Trinpy.

The first AF I had I didn't get any cramps or anything. I'm pretty sure I didn't ovulate that month and AF was really weird. The following two AFs I had cramps with. Although last month I got all the ovulation symptoms when expected but AF didn't show up for ages after, so not sure what happened there!

blamber · 22/03/2014 17:36

isle, I was using opks after stopping the pill and the first time I got a positive I didn't actually ovulate, because I did not get my period. A month later, I got another positive and signs of ovulation, such as pains. I then got my AF not long after.

Trinpy · 22/03/2014 23:53

Mrs - that could have been delayed ovulation. Your body gears up to ovulate (shows all the symptoms) but it doesn't quite happen, so it tries again a couple of weeks later.

The month I got pregnant I had delayed ovulation though so its better than nothing!

mrshjb · 23/03/2014 12:04

Trinpy thanks for that, gives me hope! I wondered if that might be the case. It would make sense because I've not been off the pill for that long, either the eggs aren't quite ready or I've not made enough of the right hormones?! I didn't get all the ovulation symptoms later on in the month but the AF was pretty normal when it came so I'm hoping I did ovulate.

I'm going to use OPKs and I've ordered a bbt thermometer so hopefully that will help me make sense of stuff a little bit :)

IsleOfIslay · 23/03/2014 13:36

Well I still have ewcm today negative opks, also having mild twinges. I don't have a clue what's going on. I was sure that I was going to ovulate a couple weeks ago and it came to nothing and the same just now but negative opks. Sad feel like my body needs a big shove to finally get on with it and release that little eggy!!!

HungryHorace · 23/03/2014 16:52

When I was TTC number 1, there was somebody else who was in the same boar. She actually got pregnant in her 6th month off the pill before having a period.

So it can happen and may not necessarily be indicative of a serious problem.

Do you recall what your pre-pill cycles were like?

HungryHorace · 23/03/2014 16:53

Boat, clearly.

sherbertlemon17 · 23/03/2014 17:12

Sorry to hear that Isle. I can confirm that is how I have been for the last 3 months aswell.Hmm

Thanks hungaryhorace! Hopefully that will be the case for use too.

I came off the pill and had no periods for 6m. Lots of 'fake' periods: felt just like it was going to arrive and then nothing.

I then conceived first month of trying (and conceived again first month with #2) so it wasn't indicative of anything serious.

What do you weigh? There's some thinking that women with higher levels of body fat bounce back to full fertility quicker from the pill/breastfeeding etc than those with lower levels (related to oestrogen).

sherbertlemon17 · 27/03/2014 09:50

So just to update you all ladies, I went to the doctors and am so glad that I haven't been fobbed off at all! My doctor was really supportive and has suggested an ultra sound before any blood tests to pick up/eliminate PCOS. Then depending on the results we will go from there.

It's a weird feeling of being happy and sad all at the same time Confused

sherbert, it's great that your doctor is so helpful. It's not always easy to get a GP to take you seriously after stopping the pill. I had all the investigations and when they said it was PCOS I was glad and sad at the same time too. Sad that there was something wrong- even though I already knew. But glad that I knew what it was and that they could do something about it, so I could have a better chance at ttc!

sherbertlemon17 · 28/03/2014 19:01

Hi blamber, sorry that it wasn't so straight forward for you!

If you don't mind me asking, what was the next step after discovering you had PCOS?

Hi please can anyone help me with advice.
I came off the pill dec 31st 2019 after being on it for 12 years. I had AF on day 44 (17thfeb) it’s now 44days since and nothing no period has came.
The GP said they will get bloods to check hormone profile

Should I be worried 😟
Thanks
