Varying length cycles?

Hi

We're TTC dc2. DS is nearly 18 months. I stopped taking the pill (cerazette) in November. Got my first period in January. Then I got the next one 33 days later (February). I didn't expect my cycles to be totally regular, but was estimating on the next cycle being about 30 days. So was surprised when I got my period this morning on day 24. When it started i thought it might be an implantation bleed, having thought I was ovulating last weekend, but must have been wrong, as it's heavy and clearly a period.

So if I've had a 33 day then a 24 day cycle, how on earth do I estimate when I might be ovulating?

Should we just have loads of sex all month?
Are ovulation tests a good idea or a waste of money- surely I would have to test every couple of days from, say, day 8-9 if I don't really know roughly when I'm ovulating?

Any experience on this?

Should have given this thread a more catchy title!

Mine vary from 29-31 days and this is the longest I've gone do far (34 days). They were always roughly 29 days before ttc now it seems to get longer then shorter then longer. Something about ttc seems to put our body's off whack but no idea why . We just decided the best course of action was sex every 3 days all the way through the minths x

Thanks

Thinking back to when I got pregnant with DS I had pretty much the same thing when stopping the pill, three cycles 33 day, 24 day then a 28 days, then then I got pregnant. I think just having regular sex will be the only way. Think I'll try ovulation tests too. But although they will tell me when it's a good time, but if my cycle isn't regular I won't be able to assume that it's the same time the following month so I'll have to test again.

What's the temperature thing? does your temperature go up when you're ovulating?

your cycle can be irregular after coming off the pill. Just DTD 2-3 times a week. I wouldn't do the ovulation stick thing just yet, because it is a lot of hassle (and may cause stress), whilst your cycles should sort themselves out eventually.
