Trying, no luck so far. I need advice

We have been trying to conceive after two MMC (one in Jan and one in July last year - both diagnosed at the 12 weeks scan). We already have a child who's almost four and I'm 36.

I have a very weird feeling there is a problem. My July MMC was horrendous, with continuous bleeding for over a month after the medical procedure. This only settled after a course of progesterone.

And now, we've been trying, nothing is happening. I am thinking about going to GP to ask for a gynae referral, but what are the chances I'll actually get it? I need some advice, something to reassure me. And I have no idea what that could be. I know for some it does take longer to conceive, but I cannot shake the feeling there's something wrong.

Anyone with advice?

So sorry to hear of such a difficult time. I don't know, except to say that I went to my GP after 6 months of trying to conceive no 2 (no 1 came first month and was one). I was still bfing no 1 who was 1, and was 35. She took it seriously and referred me for a scan to check ovaries etc which happened a couple of weeks later. No MCs, no irregular periods, nothing else out of the ordinary except 35 and trying for 6 months. I do know from reading on here though that others have less proactive GPs.

They also did blood tests at day 3 and day 21 at the GP surgery just to check I was ovulating.

As such, surely going to GP would be a good step. I think the advice is after 6 months to go when over 35. Good luck.

Hi, I had a mmc in March last year after conceiving at 39. My advice to you would be to see your GP. You're still in your childbearing years so they should offer you exploratory tests as there are several they can do including a 21 day progesterone test to see if you have ovulated plus a scan to see if you have a blocked tube. If you don't get anywhere with your GP ask to see another. If you're really unlucky and struggle to get these tests done on the NHS you can pay privately.

Have you tried using OPK's to see if if/when you're ovulating?

Have you tried speaking to people here on any of the recurrent miscarriage threads? Most of us will ask for referrals to St Mary's miscarriage clinic in Paddington and also explore something called natural killer cells. I found about the latter here on the recurrent thread and after 4 Mia miscarriages had treatment and was able to have my little boy. Many GPs are not well versed on miscarriage treatment. They might also want to have a third before you're offered any testing (terrible I know) but you might be able to persuade them for some tests now. I saw the Miscarriage Clinic privately in the end but it was well worth it. Good luck!
