Failed contraception.....pregnancy?

We use condoms and I've heard of these failing.... But it's really unlikely right?

I'm 2 days late(normally v regular), suffering from flu (I never get sick) and I've just got that feeling....I don't want to be pregnant - it would be a nightmare at the mo, maybe next year when I have finished study and have a job (we already have one DC)- so I'm posting here for some sound mumsnet chastisement 'don't be an idiot, it's sooo unlikely... Stupid!'

Well Cosmo, I guess there is a 2% chance you are pg?! So, slim, but still a chance. I am sure it is more likely that you are just a bit under the weather. And even the most regular women are sometimes a bit late. Just POAS if you are worried! I hope that you are not, good luck.

Not pregnant. 2%! So small....
Have an old pregnancy test somewhere- 2 for 1 bought when I tested for my son in oct 2011- I might use if I don't have my period by end of tomorrow.

Typical use failure rate for the condom is 15%. So not so slim. Better get those pg tests out!

Have you had a condom failing incident? One that broke or stayed inside or you didn't bother using them one time? If not then it's 2% ish.

Might think of changing contraception. Or Not having sex.

No- no failure that we noticed. Must be ok.

The thing is, even with perfect use, someone has to be in that 2%.

The failure rate of the contraceptive patch is 0.3%. My little 0.3% chance is asleep in the next room right now. Doc couldn't figure out how I'd got pregnant on it, she reckoned I'd made no mistakes that she could see, and it was just one of those things.

So, it's unlikely, but probably better to test for your own peace of mind.
