How much should it go up by if you have ovulated?

Also is the coverline drawn above the last 6 temps.

Am on CD10 today.

Hi there, can I add a question?

This is my first month temping and the temps aeem a bit random- have not yet observed a shift and am on CD19 (of 33-ish). But I have also been observing CM and cervical position and according to those, I would have expected to see the shift eitehr over the last few days or-at a push- tomorrow.

Question is- if your BBT says no ovulatory shift, but your CM etc follow the correct pattern, which is the better indicator of ovulation having occurred or not?

Thanks in advance!

trace2 · 08/08/2006 08:29

pendulum yes, temping and checking cm works together, but like i said earlier, some have an
anovulaory cycle , but there is still time to get a temp rise as its after ovulation you get this. you usally get cm a few days befoe a temp rise, that way you know to bding ! and as its your first month of temping you still got time to learn how your body works,
hope this helped did your temp rise this monrning?

pendulum · 08/08/2006 16:05

Thanks v much Trace (have you thought of setting yourself up in business as a consultant? )

My temp actually dipped by 0.4 Celsius this morning! As I said there is quite a bit of movement up & down but the majority of temps have been around the 36.2 mark, however this morning it was 35.8. I thought that dips were evidence of incorrect temp taking but have done exactly the same each morning and took it twice this morning to check.Still quite a bit of CM too (sorry if TMI....)

Weird, huh? Maybe it will all become clearer after a few months of charting- but not too many I hope!

How are you getting on?

trace2 · 08/08/2006 16:21

pendulum lol i wish?

some ladys get dips befor a rise, so again try not to worry yet, if youve had any stress to this can delay ovulation too but would make you cycle longer, even thought you had cm, it still can be delayed, but lets see what tomorrow brings, the dip just might be ovulation.

trace2 · 08/08/2006 16:23

put your temps up ill have a look

trace2 · 08/08/2006 16:27

the dip usally occurs on the day of ovulation its the result of high levels of estronen pushing your temp down, i thought you would understand this better, so lets hope you get your rise tomorrow, and i want to know in the morning too

Babymad4num3 · 08/08/2006 16:35

A little question dose having a baths affect the sperm?

pendulum · 08/08/2006 17:14

Thanks trace, feel a bit of a dunce as have just checked internet and found lots about temp dip. Sorry- will do some basic research before asking next time I have a book but it's not v detailed compared with some of the websites I just turned up and didn't say anything about a dip.

As you say, fingers crossed for tomorrow.

Thanks again for your time xx

trace2 · 08/08/2006 18:37

Babymad4num3 no

pendulum dont worry i like be asked i will say its vert addictive though. hope you found what you was looking for

Babymad4num3 · 08/08/2006 19:26

so my little swimmers wont go down the plughole? lol

pendulum · 09/08/2006 08:03

V disappointed this morning- temp back from 'dip' of 35.8 to coverline (36.2). Too late according to my research for it to have been ov dip.

Grrrrrr.

wannaBe1974 · 23/08/2006 18:18

am bumping this thread because I have decided to start doing my temp, so ... trace ... oh wise one, tell me if I have this right ...

Temp should stay same or around the same until ovulation, and then it rises after ovulation is that right? and then stays raised and dips when af is iminent? I've never done this before and have no idea what I'm doing but having read up I think that's how it works but am ready to be told I've got it wrong :O

Babymad4num3 · 23/08/2006 23:27

Had enough of these flipping ov-test, did an ov-test late yesterday pos again after two neg's, only on day CD12 and already had two pos test's this cycle.
Still doing temp cant make head or tail of it, nothing new there!

CD2-36.4,
CD3-36.5,
CD4-36.4,
CD5-36.3
CD6-36.6,
CD7-36.5 a pos ov-test
CD8-36.4,
CD9-36.2
CD10-36.4
CD11-36.3 a pos ov-test
CD12-36.6

Both 36.6 had a pos-ov-test either before or after, what's that all about!

trace2 · 24/08/2006 08:51

babymad, looks like you have a high cover line, but its not a problem, and your only on day 12 , the postive on sticks can just mean youve had a surge but not mean yove ovultated, until you have had a higher than cover line temp for 3 days hope this helps you

rubles · 24/08/2006 08:52

Hi, I know I'm not trace "the temp guru" but wannabe you have that right.

Babymad, from reading attilathemeerkat's posts I have learnt that it is possible to have more than one LH surge in a month if your body gears up to ovulating but then doesn't manage it. Looking at your temps here I would guess that you may have ovulated on CD11 but got the pos test on the same day (this has happened to me on the last 2 months). You'll need to see what tomorrow's temp is.

trace2 · 24/08/2006 09:04

wannbe, where do i startyes you are right about doing it at the same time each moring, i do mine at 6, but say if i get up at 4.30 to go to loo i take it then because you get a better reading than going back to bed and doing it at 6 you have to have 3 more hours of rest to take it! like when i take mine at 6 its 36.0 to 36.3, and if i take at 4 its usaly 36.0 to 36.2 so not much diffrence, but if you start on day 1 of your cycle you may get a higher than normal as af can make it high, but when afs gone it usally settles down.
and i must say not everyone gets a dip befor ovulation( i dont) so thats why i do sticks too that way i know when i get a surge and a few days later if i get a rise in temp and lasts more than 3 days i know ive ovulated. does that make sence? i also find it very helpfull for knowing when af is comig too.

if you want to ask anything you know ill try my best to answer, good look i hope this helps i find temming addictive i hope you do.

trace2 · 24/08/2006 09:07

hi rubles how are you?? lol i am treible at writing this down, when other put it so simple

rubles · 24/08/2006 09:19

I'm doing really well, thanks trace. (I'm on CD11, I'm always happy at this time of the month).

I actually find the thing of using my temp to predict AF coming is a mixed blessing as my temp has started to dip slightly a much as 2 days before AF comes which means I have 2 days of semi-depression before the final nail in the coffin comes with af. Sometimes I wonder if it would be better not knowing and staying hopeful until the last minute.

trace2 · 24/08/2006 09:30

yes rubles i understand what you mean but i think at least i wont test coz when i get a dip my af comes that day some time but yes some times i have to wait all day and thats a killer, so two days befor would drive me mad,

Babymad4num3 · 24/08/2006 10:46

rubles my temp this mornng was a disappionting 36.5!

rubles · 24/08/2006 11:40

It's still possible that it was CD11 babymad, but it's not conculsive yet. Tomorrow will hopefully either be conclusively high or low which would tell us one way or the other. Don't stop BD-ing though. How long are your cycles normally? Do you have an idea of when you normally ovulate?

Babymad4num3 · 24/08/2006 11:49

rubles, Know clue as to when i ov it's all over the place at the mo, I have 26-32 day cycle!

Babymad4num3 · 25/08/2006 12:22

What do i do tuck temp 1 1/2 hrs late and went to the toilet before taking temp!??

trace2 · 25/08/2006 15:25

hi Babymad4num3 just take in morning and see what it brings, dont beat yourself up about it! you sound really down
