I write all my symptoms by day for each cycle - and yes, I have spent many an hour obsessing over them! that and looking at the due date calculator.....

Does anyone know, realistically (if you can be) how early you could show a BFP? For some reason Ive got in my head 12dpo but not sure where I got that from? And if you tested on 12dpo and got a BFN might you still be in with a chance?

SaRaRaRaRa · 21/02/2014 16:24

Wow, you are so organised re noting your symptoms!

I thought you could (but v unlikely) get a line on 10dpo, going by the reckoning that on a 28 day cycle and ovulating on cd 14 that some sensitive tests can pick up a BFP 4 days before your period would be due. That make sense? I have tested on 10dpo before and I never actually feel sad to get a negative test then, it's once I get a negative 12/13 dpo that I start to think it is probably a 'true' negative. And sure enough, AF usually follows.

(Sorry if I am feeding anyone's poas addiction here.)

Choccywoccydodah · 21/02/2014 16:27

Yes mama is a bit of a nutter SaRa Wink
I'm glad I'm not the only one that does the due date calculator Blush How old is your ds?

Choccywoccydodah · 21/02/2014 16:29

Genni, my last 3 months I tested all positive on 12dpo Grin (then bled around 5-7 days later :'( )

SaRaRaRaRa · 21/02/2014 16:32

DS is 21 months, how old is your LO?

Oh I'm so sorry re chemicals and sorry if I have been encouraging anyone to poas early. I had one chem last time I was ttc and that was horrible so I can't imagine what 3 in a row must be like Sad FX for March and a sticky bean x

EnglishGirlAbroad · 21/02/2014 16:32

I tested positive at 11dpo.... Think every pregnancy is different.
I obsess over the charts on FF and have seen some BFPs at 8dpo!!

Serenitysutton · 21/02/2014 16:35

Ok I am a bit confused now! I use I period which maps my periods and ovulation although obviously that's not an exact science. However I presumed it recalculated my cycle each time it was given data about the last, if you know what I mean?

So basically my cycles are average of 27 days. The pound land cheapy tests claim you can use them 4 days before period due. I am 10 DPO (from the last day of my "fertile period") and my period is due in 4 days. I may or may not test at the weekend but was under the impression if I did it would be reasonably accurate as 12 DPO is 2 days before period is due- but from what you're saying above if I did one today it's very unlikely to show anything?

Help!

SaRaRaRaRa · 21/02/2014 16:41

Yes English - every pregnancy and every woman are definitely different!

Serenity - yes, I think the more data those apps have the more accurate they can be. Re testing early they have stats re how reliable the result is and the closer you get to AF then the more accurate they are. EG (and I am making these up, I think they vary per brand and might say on the info sheet), if you test at 10dpo it is 60% accurate (ie if you get a negative there is 40% chance that you are pregnant but test hasn't picked it up), 11dpo is 70%, 12dpo 80%, etc. Does that help, or confuse even further?

SaRaRaRaRa · 21/02/2014 16:42

PS BFP at 8dpo Shock. I use FF but haven't worked out how to look at other charts - probably a good thing!

RetroHippy · 21/02/2014 16:48

Fuck fuck fuck fuck fuck fuck fuck fuck.

AF got me. CD 17. Not 17dpo. 17 days since my last depressing period.

If anyone wants me I'll be in the bath. With Wine

SaRaRaRaRa · 21/02/2014 16:59

Oh crap retro. Def AF? Wine

RetroHippy · 21/02/2014 17:05

Yup. Too heavy to be anything else. And been feeling a bit 'periody' the last couple of days.

I came on at work and just about held it together till I turned out of the car park. The neighbors must have thought I was strangling cats!

Now sinking the last of yesterday's bottle of vino in the bath. Reasonable types who don't drink before 6 can Fuck Off.

Serenitysutton · 21/02/2014 17:07

Thanks sa ra makes sense. Sorry to hear that retro :(

SaRaRaRaRa · 21/02/2014 17:08

Oh I'm really sorry

Choccywoccydodah · 21/02/2014 17:33

I had a reeeeeeally faint line at 9dpo on the first month I got a positive Smile then nothing again until 12dpo, odd.

Retro you enjoy your wine! Cd17?? Wtaf????

My wonderful Ds is 2y6m Smile (and currently in our cellar that we had shotblasted last Friday getting filthy with his dad and playing with the sand that we still haven't got out).
Thank god for bath time!!

mama31 · 21/02/2014 17:34

Choccy I agree, I am completely bonkers! But honestly quite normal in RL without ttc!!!! This journey has turned me insane!!!

Retro oh no! That's so rubbish, I am obv not a "reasonable type" therefore am shouting "sink the wine and then open another bottle!!!!!!" hope your ok that's so frustrating! What was your last couple of cycles like?

Choccywoccydodah · 21/02/2014 17:36

And get the chocs out too!

3isourmagicnumber · 21/02/2014 17:39

Aw so sorry to hear that Retro. Hope the wine helps xxx

serenity just to let u know my experience with testing early with my ds2. I tested from 4 days before AF due (very regular 28 day cycle) and got negative results each day till the day my AF was due. I tested again that day thinking I couldn't be preg because of all the negative but I was and it showed positive. I think everyone is different and must have different levels of the hormone present. Hope this helps a little xx

RetroHippy · 21/02/2014 17:51

I texted DH, his instructions were to bring wine with a Sad.

Last few cycles were 26, 50, 18, 28 and now 17 days. And it's not unusual, this is what it was like before I went on the pill too.

Going for my first blood test Monday. I've got a horrible feeling in the pit of my stomach that this is going to be a really long slog. And I waited so long for DH the responsible one to feel that we were ready, financially and as a couple, that I'm horribly afraid that I'm already starting to resent it, even though I know he was right.

FFS, I've run out of fingers for counting the friends who got preggers by accident, or first cycle trying Envy. I knew that I had issues, and I'm trying so hard not to be Angry that we didn't start trying sooner.

This ttc business is a headfuck.

Choccywoccydodah · 21/02/2014 17:57

So sorry retro. I know what you mean about trying not to be resentful to dh. My dh wasn't 100% on having another until last spring (ds was never going to be an only but his sleep totally changed after 14 months and really put dh off!)
Anyway, he was scared we were going to catch really quick so we put it off, now the gap is just getting bigger and bigger. It's not his fair but I do think if only we started earlier.......
You will get there I'm sure, even if it seems like forever now, you'll have a 2 year old one day and wonder where the time went x

Choccywoccydodah · 21/02/2014 17:57

*not his fault

gennibugs · 21/02/2014 18:03

retro im really sorry. Lots of wine, chocolate and whatever else you fancy for you tonight. Wine

what you said re feeling resentful struck a chord with me. We initially tried a few years ago, I got made redundant so DH was adamant we had to put babymaking on hold until I was employed and able to claim mat leave. I cant help but worry that if it takes us a long time (we tried for 6 months last time with no luck) I might start to feel resentful (even though I know he is right).

re the testing early - I am going to try my hardest not to poas until middle of next week. I think if i got a BFN it would really upset me - id rather leave it until as close to AF due date as possible.

EnglishGirlAbroad · 21/02/2014 18:09

Oh retro, I'm sorry. You enjoy that one. No judgement here, in fact I might join you!!
What tests are you having done on Monday?
I was the 'sensible' one in our relationship. DH told me to come off the pill this time last year but I was convince I'd end up a pregnant bride (we got married in sept). Now I wish I had. Hmm

RetroHippy · 21/02/2014 18:13

Thanks all. It's really helpful to be able to come and rant talk here. There's no one IRL other than DH who I can show my crazy to!

It's the day 3 test English, measures FSH against LH I think. If you're functioning 'normally' (ha! What's normal?!) then I think they should be fairly balanced. The day 21 test is the one to see if you're even ovulating, which is probably the most useful one for me. At least if I'm ovulating we just DTD every other day of every cycle!!!

SaRaRaRaRa · 21/02/2014 18:22

Hope all goes well on Monday retro. Do you have to wait long for the results? Is day 21 test always on day 21? Sorry to sound dim, it's just from being on here it has made me realise how much people's cycles vary so I wondered if they can tailor it to you.
