Hi all. As promised, a sparkling new thread that is going to see a lot of action in the next few weeks, I hope!

Just de-lurking to send hugs to all, especially one feeling so blue.

bugs FX the line gets darker.

euro 12 weeks already, wow!

I have early scan tomorrow (think I will be 6w), started spotting last night so I am stressing! The stress never stops!

Turquoisetamborine · 09/02/2014 11:04

Well I thought I was doing ok and being quite rational 7 days into down regging but had a breakdown yesterday when I went for a wedding hair trial for when I'm a bridesmaid and I looked so spotty and ugly. My skin is terrible at the minute. I just cried at the hairdressers then all the way home. Poor woman didn't know what was going on.

My mam rang me this morning to see how I am and told me my sister in law is accidentally pregnant. I'm fucking devastated. Why couldn't she have announced it at 12 weeks like everyone else not 4 weeks?

They have a one year old already. My brother is about 24 stones and the unhealthiest man you could imagine whereas my H is so fit and healthy.

Just goes to show that all the shit about eating healthy, not smoking etc etc doesn't mean shit.

And my stammer has come back because I'm anxious. I could hardly get a word out at the hairdressers yesterday. How unlucky am I to be infertile and have a stammer.

So sorry for the rant it's just no one else understands.

Turquoisetamborine · 09/02/2014 11:08

One I'm sorry you are feeling so shit at the minute. Please stop testing and torturing yourself. I know what you mean about hating people with more than one child. My son is 6 now and I'm kidding myself he'll ever have a sibling.

Onelittlebugbear · 09/02/2014 12:05

Mine is nearly 5 turquoise and I feel the same.
Looks like he will be an only one.

I know loads of people (through work) who drink, smoke, take drugs, eat crap and live in squalor. Yet they pop out baby after baby after baby. I have concluded lifestyle makes very little diffence if you're highly fertile.

A mom a ds's school is pregnant with twins. She has four children already, by four different fathers. She stands and smokes whilst she waits for her other kids and I feel bitter.

eurochick · 09/02/2014 12:11

When I went to the EPU, sure I was miscarrying (again), there was a pregnant woman standing outside the doors smoking. There is no justice in any of this.

Turq the downregging drugs are evil. Almost everyone feels terrible on them. If you can make it through to stimming, you should feel better then.

Onelittlebugbear · 09/02/2014 12:14

Euro I'm glad things are looking good for you this time x x

If we try again I will do short protocol again even though dh wants me to do long. I think short is as far as I will go. I don't want the migraines to come back. I am worried the clinic will say I need to do long protocol too.

Onelittlebugbear · 09/02/2014 15:09

I really hope it's the hormones.
I've just cried at the Winter Olympics.

Other things that have made me cry today:
Burning toast
Old man in tesco buying small amount of food and paying in small change
Baby diplodocus being eaten in dino documentary ds was watching

That's how bad it is. I'm crying over an animated prehistoric creature being eaten by an animated prehistoric predator.

God. I hope this stops. I probably shouldn't go out again until it does.

Onelittlebugbear · 09/02/2014 15:12

I also should not read the news.
A zoo has killed a baby giraffe because there were too many giraffes and then fed him to the lions.
This has also made me cry.

starsandmoonandback · 09/02/2014 15:48

One, I just read about the giraffe too. Hmm I wondered why they couldn't just sterilise the giraffe if worried about genetic issues? Why did they have to kill him with a gun (rather than injection) to part use for research and part feed to lions?? Shock

Hugs for all the crying. Oh no hang on, no hugs, hugs will just make you cry more....that, or slap me Wink

starsandmoonandback · 09/02/2014 15:49

Bunnie good look tomorrow for your scan. You'll see a likkle hb flickering Smile

Euro, hope your scan goes smoothly this week too Smile

starsandmoonandback · 09/02/2014 16:01

*luck

Badhairday76 · 09/02/2014 16:43

I felt bloody sorry for that giraffe as well.

Euro - so excited for you that you have made it this far!

Bunny - good luck for your scan. Am sure you will be fine. How far along will you be?

One - hope tomorrow is a brighter day for you.

AFM, I have to go for my blood test at the hospital tomorrow. I am going to try to go as early as possible because the blood clinic is always ridiculously busy and my DS always runs around causing havoc. I've waited 2.5 hours for a blood test before so am going to be there like a keen bean as soon as they open. I have told a few close friends about my positive test now and have decided there is no point in being all negative and stressed out right now. I should be jumping for joy after all. I am so lucky to get this far xxx

Turquoisetamborine · 09/02/2014 17:07

Thanks Euro, I know it's the drugs but i still feel utterly depressed. Nothing that I normally like doing is making me happy.

I'm actually looking forward to work tomorrow so I have something to take my mind off things.

Good luck for your scan!

Onelittlebugbear · 09/02/2014 17:11

Hope your scan goes well Euro and yours bunny. I think spotting is pretty common with Ivf pregnancies but nonetheless worrying I know xx

The progesterone is messing with my mind! Giant sore boobs, yep, exhausted, yep, moody, yep!
Also the rash has returned. Why, why?! I itch!

Badhairday76 · 09/02/2014 17:19

Turquoise - forgot to say thinking of you too. Buserelin is dreadful. I do hope you start to feel better soon. X

Onelittlebugbear · 09/02/2014 17:21

My mil has annoyed me. Mind you that it quite easy to do atm - I'm either crying or annoyed. Occasionally both.

Dh takes ds over every Sunday without fail. I didn't really want them to go today because ds is the only thing that cheers me up, but go they did. They've come home an hour earlier than usual because dh was worried about me and apparently mil has been complaining about missing out. Piss off! She's lucky they bloody went. She's got three children, five other grandchildren and a great grandchild. I've got ds and that's it.

Onelittlebugbear · 09/02/2014 17:21

And yes mil is aware of the ivf and the likelihood that it hasn't worked.

Onelittlebugbear · 09/02/2014 17:31

Mind you now they're home I wish dh would go back.
He's more upset Man U are losing than he is over the Ivf failure. How can this be?!

wishwash · 09/02/2014 17:41

Hey ladies. Sorry I've been AWOL the last few days. It been hectic! I went to the Circus of horrors thursday night, to a twilight spa friday night then yesterday I travelled from my home in South Somerset to Basingstoke to go ice skating, bowling, for a meal and indoor skydiving, then to Cardiff to see a band play then back to South Somerset for a huge sleep! I'm so tired today!

One - Don't give up yet. I know its hard and I'm just as negative as you but its easy for me to say it isn't it?! I'll need you to say the same thing to me in two weeks time. I have my fingers crossed that everything you're going through will be worth it in the end!

Bad- I can't wait to be bloated for the right reasons. Now its generally because i've eaten too much fruit or bread. My stomach bloats the size of being 6 months preggers, no exaggeration! Good luck for your blood test tomorrow (not that you need it)

Bugs - Oh my gosh! How exciting. eeeeeek.

Euro - Good luck for your scan. I'm so happy for you. I'm glad you have told yourself to enjoy it if all is well, which I'm sure it will be Smile

Good luck Bunny! I will be thinking of you xxx

afm, af FINALLY arrived on friday which means i can go for my scan on tuesday to see if im thin enough then start on my oestrogen wednesday! So if all goes well with the plumping of my lining I should have my FET the last week feb! I get excited then I fall back down to earth thinking of the disappointment and heart ache of the last two bfn's.

Its ok though, I'm strong, I can do this. I just so desperately need to be pregnant at the same time as DP's brother's GF so we can all enjoy it together Envy

Bloody hell, Wish! Where do you get the energy? Can I buy some of yours? I went to a 4 year old's party and am exhausted from sitting/watching Smile.

And eek! (note - I do not talk like this IRL) about AF/FET. I so hope for you that you and almost SIL get to do it together (and that we get off this thread Wink).

Good luck tomorrow, Bad.

OP posts:
wishwash · 09/02/2014 19:35

Thanks res. I have no idea where I get the energy from, i think its more than I do it all in a daze. I didn't get out of bed until 1:30pm today which helped!

I prefer to keep busy anyway otherwise I drive myself crazy. I have 2 weeks off after my FET with nothing to do so god knows what kind of state ill be in then! Hmm

eurochick · 09/02/2014 19:51

Thanks all. 8 days to go....

one tell your husband to take a running jump on what medical treatment YOU put yourself through. Particularly when he has been so unsupportive through this round. Grrrr. I feel very indignant on your behalf.

Turq I remember that feeling. It was so alien to me, as I am normally on a very even keel emotionally. I just couldn't hack it. Part of me wishes I had carried on and potentially saved myself 18 months of heartache, but it was the right decision at the time to stop as I was losing it.

wish it's not often I will say this, but hurrah for AF!

Turquoisetamborine · 09/02/2014 21:51

Can I ask what you're all eating when doing IVF? I'm trying to eat lots of dairy and will buy organic milk next time I shop so I can have plenty of that. We both eat Brazil nuts.

Avoiding peas and fennel, can't remember why.

Any other tips?

Badhairday76 · 09/02/2014 22:14

Most clinics recommend protein, Turquoise, so it sounds like you are doing the right thing with the dairy products and Brazil nuts. I found that the hormones made me hungrier than usual so I actually ate ALOT of food. Not all of it particularly healthy (but then IVF is grim enough without crisps and chocolate, I reckon!) Many IVFers give up caffeine but I just tried to limit myself to one cup of instant coffee and one milky tea a day. That was hard for me, because I'm a teacher and it's my fuel. I also only had the occasional glass of wine when I was DRIng, but stopped completely when stimming. A lot of people are much stricter with themselves than I was though and clinics seem to vary a lot with what they tell you. Mine just told me to 'eat a healthy diet' and to 'only have the odd glass of wine over Christmas' but they were vague about most things really.
