It's unlikely that I will end up pregnant isn't it?

I had ds 6 weeks ago. I am expressing milk because ds couldn't bf. I started taking microgynon on Saturday. My periods haven't returned yet.

Today I let Dh talk me into Having sex even though I haven't been taking the contraceptive pill for long enough yet.

It's unlikely that I will get pregnant right?

Unlikely but not impossible.

Can you take the morning after pill? Might be worth running past pharmacist?

Madratlady · 28/01/2014 15:08

I'm not worried enough to take the MAP since I think it's pretty unlikely. If I did get pregnant again soon then it wouldn't be the end of the world but I'd prefer to wait a year or so before trying for number 2.

it only protects you from the first pill if you are on the first day if your period. If started at any other time you should use other precautions for the first 7 days of pill taking. It is probably unlikely but not impossible for you to get pregnant just now.

If you had started the pill within 21 days of birth then protection would have started from the first pill too.

Madratlady · 28/01/2014 22:28

According to the leaflet that came with the pills then you only need extra precautions for 2 days, I just checked.

Some women are really fertile after pill so imagine the same for after birth. Less likely with the bf.

ilovepowerhoop · 29/01/2014 08:11

microgynon is a combined pill so will interfere with your milk supply if you are intending to keep on expressing - just a warning in case you weren't aware

Madratlady · 29/01/2014 09:14

Sorry it's micronor not microgynon. Micronor is a mini pill.

you should be ok then if you had been taking them for more than 2 days. Funny how its 7 days for the combined pill but only 2 days for the mini-pill.
