Textbooks and fertility professionals say that you start to bleed 14 days after you ovulate regardless of how long your cycle is. EG, In a 28 day cycle you would ovulate on day 14 in a 35 day cycle you would ovulate on day 21.People on here will say that this is not correct but this what I have always been taught. Is that what you wanted to know?

doobydoo · 31/07/2006 19:34

Ah Thanks...yes that is what i wanted to know.I looked on some websites but somehow confused meself. So thanks.

Unfortunately though that isn't true!!
(Just to confuse you further!!)

GPs think that the second phase is ALWAYS set at 14 days but everyone is different (which makes the whole ttc thing blinkin' hard!!)

I only have 8 or 9 days between ov and bleed.
One of the reasons why I find it hard to get pg (not enough time really for egg to implant etc.)

HTH!!!

Think the norm is preiod 12-16 days after ovulation. But like anything with us humans, there will always be a few people who are different from the "text book".

Taking Charge of your Fertility" by Toni Weschler is an excellent (if exensive, at around £17, but look on ebay) book for explaining all this.

So should i get an ovulation kit?

I did and that was mainly what told me I had a problem!!!!!

nicnack2 · 31/07/2006 19:54

28 day cycle. cycle starts that day ur period starts. 10 - 15 days after that date you ovulate/fertile. with ds2 was very planned period started on the 1st of the month (convienatly). did the deed every second night form the 8th day until the 15th day and bingo preggers 1st month. Very clinical i know but it worked. DH not so happy hth

Most people look out for signs of ov - egg white cervical mucus (nice!!).

This is also a good (and free) indicator of ov.

Unfortunately ov kits and EWCM are a failsave indicator but they will give you a good guide to when you ov.

coggy · 31/07/2006 19:56

Sorry - I meant....are NOT a failsafe indicator!!!

doobydoo · 31/07/2006 19:56

Ah i think i will get a kitI think i am quite regular but for some reason i cannot remember when last period was[i think it because i would like to be pregnant].I shall buy a kit.Haven't had period yet but tests are negative. Thanks for the help.
