Pregnant after taking morning after pill?

Hi all

I'm new to mums net and in a bit of a head mess.

I conceived my 9 month old twins after three years of infertility and IVF. I am infertile due to severe PCOS, which causes me to not ovulate/ have a period. After I stopped breast feeding the twins at 5 months old I didnt have a period so presume issue is still there. So at 8 months I went and got the pill, which I took for one whole cycle but it disagreed terribly with me so I stopped after the cycle was complete.

I have period (or withdrawl bleeds) when I take the pill.

If you count that as a period I then proceeded to have unprotected sex on day 10, 13, 15, 16 and 17 of that cycle. Due to various reasons and doctor issues I struggled to get a new pill sorted.

On day 19 I had some dark brown discharge, just a sneer. I thought maybe bleeding from all that sex (we had our first post baby weekend away) but still odd as 2 days had passed.

On day 19 after speaking to my husband I went to get the morning after pill as he was worried about pregnancy. In all honesty I was not given my infertile track record but I respected his concerns so agreed to take it. Truth is I hate the whole idea of the MAP but did this for him. I took Ellaone (5 day one) on day 20, very late to take it as only hours off the 5 day deadline. Thinking this would cover the days we had sex on day 15,16 and 17 of my cycle (key fertile days, if at all fertile). Anyway day 21 I had a red bright blood red smear. This would be 6 days after day 15 sex and 8 days after day 13 sex.

So I'm panicking thinking implantation bleed, sex soreness or bleed from MAP. I had a smear of blood before even taking MAP but then Bearing in mind my body seemed to suggest no ovulation post twins, before the pill I'm sure I won't have ovulated?? I also have had cramping day 20,21 and today day 22. I know that this could be MAP though.

I know pregnancy makes you more fertile for a year but I seemed to still be infertile with no periods continuing. Could taking the pill for only one cycle kick start ovulation? I have also read MAP delays ovulation but if you have already ovulated when you take it it's too late and that if taken when pregnant miscarriage rate high.

I know that is allot of info but does anyone out there have any experience with this. I'm going bonkers.

Oh I never had implantation bleed with the twins and have never bleed like this before so randomly. Help!! I would love another baby but ideally in a year or so and with my husband being pleased about it.

Anything is possible. You need to do a pregnancy test.

Can I just add. After three years of infertility a BFP would be amazing and I would be over the moon. It just would not be planned. No disrespect to anyone struggling to conceive, I know that pain well. I have just got myself in a pickle.

Hi robert21, firstly you have done everything right to try and take control of the situation, so please be gentle with yourself and try not to worry. When is the earliest you can take a pregnancy test? As that really is the only definitive way to get an answer.
Also bare I mind that IF you see that second line appear you may instantly feel very different from what you imagined.
Also, do try and discuss how you're feeling at the moment with your husband. He must be a wonderful man for you to have chosen to marry him and to have gone through the process of IVF, so do be honest and open with him about this. He probably doesn't realise what a spin you are in about this. And although he's made it clear that the timing isn't great for another baby right now, if may be because he's wanting to protect you as I'm sure that twins are very full on.
I hope you get the result you want. Big hugs. X
