Pregnancy after surgery

Hi, I have just joined this forum (hello everyone!) to ask a question on behalf of my sister who is rather worried at the moment.

My sister recently had an ovarian dermoid cyst removed. She has also discovered that she is pregnant. It works out that she must have conceived around the end of her recovery period and is worried that this is too soon after having surgery. She is concerned that she may lose the baby as a result.

Can anyone shed any light or advice on this as I don't know whether she should be worried or not?

Thanks

Cheryl

I presume she had keyhole surgery, and they didn't touch her womb? If so, I'd have thought she'd be absolutely fine.

I had extensive abdominal surgery and the concern when I fell pregnant afterwards was whether or not my uterus had been cut (it hadn't): then there would have been worries about it being able to expand properly and contract adequately during labour. Otherwise, they weren't that fussed: a few comments about how I might get more ligament pain etc than previously since things had been moved around but not much more.

Should add: my surgery was not keyhole, but rather a big cut down my abdomen, so much more invasive.
