cycles and ovulation

My cycles are usually 26-28 and even though we have been TTC for 14 months I've not been using opks until Sept 13 we have not been DTD on the right days before I started using opks and I'm feeling like we have spent all this time already and nothing has happened!

Opks are usually + around the same time every month and I normally ovulate the next day.

Opks are not always reliable. Try DTD every other day during your nectar cycle and see if that helps?

bellaboo88 · 23/01/2014 14:56

Have you had any ovulation can amps or cm?

AttilaTheMeerkat · 23/01/2014 15:08

I would now consider seeking medical advice as you have been ttc for over a year now without success.

babyrose · 23/01/2014 16:11

I do have cm and ovulation pain around the same time every month. I will give it go from now on DTD all the way through my cycle next month, just headed into 2ww.

Unfortunately dh doesn't want us to go to docs.

Why doesn't he want to go to the GP babyrose?. He is not doing you or he any favours by maintaining such a stance.

Is he at heart afraid that there is actually some sort of fertility issue with either you or (even worse to him in his mind) his own self?. He may well think that male factor problems are linked to his potency and or virility as a man; that is not the case at all.

Pinkandwhite · 23/01/2014 17:20

In babyrose, I went to see an ob/gyn when I wanted to conceive and he told me to stop bothering with opks and looking at cm. He said instead my DP and I should have sex on days 8, 10, 12, 14, 16 and 18 of my cycle (just like fuzzyduck says). Not exactly groundbreaking advice but sound advice and it did work for me. It may well just have been coincidence but I became pregnant the first month i followed his advice. His view is that opks are often misleading, as is cm.

babyrose · 23/01/2014 17:47

He doesn't seem to think there is a problem with either of us and it will happen when it happens.he certainly isnt doing us any favours by not going and is being selfish on his part!

That sounds like good advice, I think I may finish the opks I've bought and just DTD as much as possible. Finding it harder these days tho with Ds around and I work w/ends and dh back shify / night shift that's the reason I bought opks to try and pin point things more.

So you've already had one baby? If so, chances are its just a matter of time until you're pregnant again. I think it is a case of just dtd as much as possible - easier said than done though I know.

I was dreading having to get my husband to go for tests. I know he was very anti it too. Thank god I didn't have to in the end. It does seem selfish when men are resistant like that. I guess they find it humiliating or something.

I hope you get pregnant v v soon babyrose.

babyrose · 23/01/2014 18:28

Yes Ds now 3 but I had another lo, Dd when I was just 17 she died at 27 wks due to abnormalities.

I find myself wanting to just chill about it all but as soon as AF finishes I can't wait to start again!

Thanks pinkandwhite I hope it happens soon.

Hiya babyrose. Saw you were OP and thought I'd post to say hello.

Really hope this is your lucky cycle, but if not I hope DH comes around. It's a huge amount of pressure on you questions every thing every cycle, so testing would definitely be the way forward.

I'm also trying to chill this month. Dtd every other day, but we didn't start till cd10, so I've actually only done it twice this week. We'll have a crack tonight, but I just have a feeling he's going to struggle. Gets harder for him each month.

The whole opk thing just drove me mad and definitely put even more pressure on us. I know my fertile week and now its just a case of trying to nail it (me) as much as possible. So whether that's 6 times or 3 times, its just up to nature. So many pregnancies happen in just one 'try' so it will happen for us soon fingers crossed.

Good luck in your 2ww x

babyrose · 23/01/2014 19:06

Hi allchat, I hope it is our month but if its not its not and will just have to get on with it I suppose. I feel like if I bring up the subject again about getting tested then it will just cause more stress.. Maybe I'm not being clear enough how its affecting me.

I think like I said before about ditching the opks I think maybe I should and just DTD and see what happens.

I wish it would have happened like that for us allchat that "just one time"

Fingers crossed for us!
