Hi all,

just another quick question to see if this is normal.

Stopped taking Yasmin pill end of December, DTD 9th, 12th, 16th of Jan first time ttc. Had very light bleeding when i wiped about 3 days ago (lasted about 2 days) but its gone now, and i woke up in the night with bad stomach cramps which have also gone now.

Is this normal when stopping pill? or could I ovulate the first month off the pill? I took the pill for many years, but before that had regular periods and if that is correct i should have AF around 27th. I don't know what to think?

Hi, cheeky bump

Would love to know people's experiences. First month off pill is very confusing.

Hey darrnwis,

Yasmin is a low estragon pill right? Is this your first af since coming off, and what was your cycle like pre contraception?

darrenwis · 21/01/2014 19:01

Hi noimagination,

I have taken the pill for around 8 years but before that i always had regular cycles. Apparantly Yasmin has 0.03 mg estragon and is considered low dose, although i'm not sure what that means.

Look forward to your reply. Smile

It could be a number of things, most likely it's your body resetting it's cycle.

Do you know if you ovulated? If so when? If not I would get some sticks so you can work out your cycle.

It takes about 3 months for the synthetic hormones to leave your system, and then another 3-6 months for your own natural hormones to regulate. Although we are all different and some people fall pg after missing 1 pill.

I have never been on yasmin, so could not give you any hard facts. What i can say is try not to let it all stress you out, keep an eye on the changes in your body to try and work out what is normal for you and have fun! Wink

I guess its just the dreaded waiting game.

Hey. Just thought I'd share that I came off Yasmin in October and didn't have a period for 8 weeks. When it did come it was very light and lasted 11 days and I didn't get any normal period symptoms. The second cycle was much more normal and 28 days later AF appeared. I'm used to 7 days of bleeding but it was only 4 this time but it seemed much more like a proper period!

Basically I think the pill screws with your body and it can take a while for your hormones to get back to normal. I think for the immediate future you just need to wait and see what happens which I know is painfully frustrating!!
