How long should I wait?

Hello,

I've come for a bit of a sanity check and advice. DH and I have been TTC for 2 years now and have just started on the road of getting tested at the GP for any issue. I have a 29 day cycle, have done for ages once I'd settled after I'd come off the pill...except I'm late! 3 days now. I've had period like pains for days and I was horrible last week in true PMT style plus with Christmas and stuff I don't think we hit our mark last month. My question is, how long before I do a test?? DH says we should wait and I'm just a bit late but I'm going mad. Should I just do it and get it out the way? I feel a bit silly, it's only 3 days...do I just need a slap?

Oh please Poas. Dying to know. 2 years trying and you've not tested even though you are late! What are you waiting for?

I'm sure you are. The anticipation must be immense.

When do you plan on taking a test? It's the only way you are going to find out for sure. Think how you'll feel if it's positive. And if it's negative doesn't mean you are not unless AF arrives.

You're right, of course. Will get a test on my way home from work. DH not back from work till 11pm so will wait until the morning. Although saying that I may not be able to resist! Thanks both, think H is just being cautious and not wanting to get our hopes up!

Please update us when you have poas I'm afraid it's the only way you are going to find out. Buy 2 one for tonight and one for the morning if you really can't wait!

Bless DH he has just said as long as I wait for him to get home. His reasoning was that he just hates seeing how sad it makes me. We really did miss my fertile window last month so I just don't see how.

well I poas and it was a bfn. kind of knew in my heart but still gutted. I'm never late but hey ho. Now baffled by no af and trying to be cheery! Thanks for all the support, it was lovely knowing you were all there being positive

Try again first thing in the morning. It's so disheartening when you want it so much.

Try a pink test like answer or free or super drug the dye comes out clearer. I did a test two days before af was due, clear pink 2nd line (answer) then on day period due with a blue (sainsbury) and you could barely make out a line. Week later super strong line on the 2nd (answer) test.
