Best time to have a smear when ttc

Hi,

My smear is long overdue and I really need to go especially considering my ttc efforts are not paying off. Need the once over.

Just coming to the end of my AF now and despite wanting to get the smear done sooner rather than later for the results, it feels a bit weird going during the week I'm actively trying. I mentioned this to the docs because I always thought you shouldn't have sex the night before and she said it was fine….but (tmi) what if it all comes out during the smear?

Should I wait till during the 2ww, but does that have an impact on anything either?

Sorry, I know I sound a bit of a baby.

Any advice appreciated.

If it were me I'd get it right after af stops...so if you bleed for 5 days get the smear done on the 6th or 7th day....then you should be least fertile if you have have regular cycles...

I would never have a smear during the 2ww...

I had sex the night before mine. Nothing "poured our" and results all came back fine so can't have done any harm.

I also wouldn't go during tww personally. no basis to it though.

Just after yr period..don't have sex until the test. That's what I did and conceived in that month

I know what you mean about the 2ww. I'm sure it doesn't affect your chances or the doc would have said.

I inadvertently had one the day I ovulated - once the nurse knew we were ttc she sent me home to phone dh

Oh really. You had a nice nurse. I was kind of hoping to miss ovulation time as I get a lot of cm. obviously good for TTC, but thought it might be bit Embarassing.

Did the nurse know because of your cervix?

I had my smear test done on CD13. I told the nurse we were TTC, she asked if I was pregnant, I said no and we got on with it.

Oh and we'd had sex that morning. Nothing poured out!

My surgery preferred me to have it done close to mid cycle so that's what I did.

Don't be embarrassed, they do this all the time. I was the 40th in that day I think so you really don't need to worry about waxing & you don't need to worry about CM.

She knew because of my mucus !

Usually they prefer you to have a smear mid cycle don't they so your cervix is more favourable? Think so...anyway I had mine done during 2ww as had been ttc for over a year and doctor wanted me to get my smear done alongside 21 day bloods to see what's happening...anyway I got pregnant that month!! So would have been early pregnant/implanting then! Spoke to doctor and only reason they ask you 'is there anyway you could be pregnant' is not because it's dangerous but because it can give funny results if you are... Luckily mine came back all clear and I'm not 9 weeks and had scan and all fine good luck
