I came off my pill roughly 4 Months ago! Been ttc right up until now.. My periods have always been abit funny also so it does not help! I have now started tracking them and its looking like I am 48 days roughly! My estimated next obvulation dates are from the 5th - 9th of feb.. any advice on what I should do, any tips? What day is best to sleep with my partner? Im very new to this and Im a paranoid person anyways. The previous months of being off the pill I have just gone naturally but always a neg result! Hopefully this time I get some good news! xx

A "normal" cycle is a cycle length of between 21 and 35 days.

Sex two or three times a week and throughout the month is fine.

If your periods are now consistently irregular in nature it may be that you are not ovulating regularly. I would keep a close watch on your cycle and if these remain consistently long over the next 2-3 months I would seek advice from the GP.

It's supposed to help if you don't get up to go to the toilet immediately after - research suggests if you lie flat for 20min afterwards it can improve your chances of conceiving. Makes sense tbh, otherwise you tip them all out! Also, listen to your instincts. Your libido increases around the time you're fertile.

I agree with Attila. You need to keep an eye on your cycle, just have regular sex and if you are seeing ongoing irregularity, go the GP.

The lying down after sex thing is a myth. At best it makes no difference, at worst, it causes a UTI. You should always go for a wee after sex to flush out bacteria which can cause an infection. Sperm will swim to where they need to be regardless of gravity.

I didn't know you should always go for a wee after having sex.....

We try and DTD every other day during our fertile window. We conceived DS1 two years ago first cycle and we've just started trying for a DS2. All the best!

Sorry -that should be DC2 - boy and/or a girl!

I think if you've ever had the misfortune of suffering a UTI directly caused by having sex, you become aware of the necessity of weeing post sex! It's good advice for every woman though. Bacteria from the penis can get into the urethra and cause infections in the urinary tract and up into the bladder and kidneys. Having a wee just flushes the bacteria out as a preventative measure.

Good luck with conceiving DC2/3/4 (well, you never know). Grin

Google Agnus Castus tablets… seems to be helping me, although I don't really know why!
