Hi there everyone,

This is my first post on here! I've often read posts to get other peoples opinions/experiences.
My DP & I have been TTC for about 17months now. I''ve just turned 35. I usually have a 25/27 day period. I'm never late. If anything, I'm usually either spot on, or 1 day early. I was due on yesterday, but there's no sign of AF. I've just tested, & got a BFN! I've got no period signs & would usually have a tummy ache by now. I'm really hoping that it's a false negative. The TWW is the worst! I've been checking for AF all day, & can't shake it from my mind. For the last 6 months, it seems as though my body's been playing cruel tricks. I'll think I've got all the symptoms, & then AF shows up.
There seems to be many of you ladies on here that have had False Negatives. I may see how I go & try again in the morning.

Xx

Hi jen. I just started posting here today too. I'be only been ttc for five months and its starting to drive me crazy already. You must be all kinds of strong.

Sometimes stress can make you ovulate late? Though late bfps are all over this place too. Have you considered getting bloods done? They can pick up hcg sooner than hpts apparently?

Fingers crossed for you xx

Fingers crossed for you.

JenferB · 15/01/2014 07:43

Hi Right! Smile

It can drive you mad after a while. I'm starting done tests at the hospital (due to my age) just to play it safe. Some people do take a year or two to conceive though. My friend is now preg after 8 years & failed bouts of IVF, so I'm not going to grumble too much yet! Wink
The months do fly by, but it can be stressful getting timings right etc. I gave up ovu sticks. You start to know when your ov anyway. After all my research, I'm a walking preg bible! If you need any info just ask! Lol. Funny, this month I ovu early! We were busy with family etc, so didn't think about ttc and left the abstinence before ovu for 4 days! Usually we have it every other to help conceive. The doc was saying that it should be every 3/4 days. I'd read on net it should be every other. He was saying that although they'd be dead sperm, as a recent ejac hadn't occurred, some would also gain in swimming ability! Maybe that's the answer!
I'd feel a bit funny about asking for a blood test just yet. Don't you think? Wouldn't the Docs think it was a bit soon. I've still not come on, & my due date for AF was the 13th. Going to try to test again with my first wee to see! Jve never really been late. My DP is amazing & charts everything for us (me!) He usually gets a 100% accuracy! Lol. I've nothing to be stressed over too. I left work in busy retail about 6 wks ago to design from home, so all good there!

Fingers crossed. Thanks for you reply!

It's still early days for you. How old are you? (If you don't mind?!)

Just taken a first morning urine test & it's a BFN. Still no sign of AF either though. In holding out for a fingers crossed BFP! Lol. It's making me crazy. I'm at 6's & 7's & can't concentrate! I NEED to know! Lol. I wonder how long I should wait before Docs if I don't get AF or BFP? The preg test info says 1 wk! Xx Confused

Hi jen :)

I'm 31 and really shouldve been at it long before now. I have pcos so time isnt my friend. My mum had two little uns in her 40s but doubt I have that much luxury of time! You're right about it being early, I feel guilty to say I'm even struggling so soon.... I'm not usually such a nervous wreck I swear!

I know what you mean about concentrating. Ive been in trouble at work so much. I just cant get it together daydreaming after I've oved.

8 years is a hell if a wait. Poor woman. Success at last though :)

Early ov and late af sounds good :)

Good that your dp is doing his bit with the charting. I had a chemical before and after my bfp my boyfriend stopped me eating a smartie once cause there's caffeine in chocolate. So I keep as much information as possible to myself. Life wouldnt be worth living. Stuck the pregnancy book in the loft and I just google things!

Is your dp really involved and hands on?

I would go with the book, a whole torturous week :(

Designing from home sounds nicer than busy retail. What do you design? Xx

I dont care about the gp thinking I

JenferB · 15/01/2014 11:14

Hey Right,

You're still young, & you can get through PCOS! Look at Victoria Beckham! Smile Do you have irregular AF's? I've heard that Agnus Castus can regulate them, & also Royal Jelly. I've heard that RJ is fab for fertility! I'm taking 500mg x3 a day. It's neSnt to stabilise hormones too! Worth researching into...
I used to daydream at work constantly during TWW! It's damn hard to focus when your mind is in baby land!
My DP is incredible. Very caring, considerate, helpful. I'm crap with dates, organisation, but he remembers it all and charts it for me! Lol. We're trying not to get too excited. I'd hate him to be disappointed. He's got a little 5 year old girl, but he had to leave his wide when she was 1.5 yrs old as she was physically abusive, mentally controlling. It's been a tough time for him, & stressful couple of years of me being with him, with courts and fees to gain access. We see her every fortnight, so now enjoy spending quality time together. Hoping that we can give her a little half brother or duster soon, & my DP can be the proper Father that he deserves so much to be.
Sorry it's an essay, but it's nice to get it out there! Lol
I wasn't enjoying my work in retail. After 8 years I found I was gaining nothing, so my DP gave mean opportunity I couldn't resist. I could start up my eon design bushes working from home on gift wrap, cars, tags etc to start with.
I also felt that whilst I was unhappy at work, it would take me longer to get pregnant. I'm hoping that it's had an immediate success.
I don't know much about chemical pregnancies. I'm going to look at it now!
Xx

Hi jen :)

Essay away, I love reading other people's experiences. I don't have many people I'm telling so I love it here :)

I didn't have any at all for a year, that's why they started investigating. I got them back but a bit irregular after I lost some weight. I read about agnus castus but didn't want it to interfere with clomid if they give me it. Also, last month I was sure that xmas magic fairies would work their magic lol. So fell to earth with a bump.....

my boyfriend has a son from a previous girl. He got a photo on facebook and an I thought you might want to know. Just after we started seeing each other. He got to visit a few times but she stopped access when ge wouldn't leave me and start a relationship with me. I feel very guilty about it and considered leaving him so he could have a real family with a real woman with real working insides before. I suppose if he wanted her he would've gone.

I always call my mums other two her proper kids and think I'm being awful thinking of my boyf's son as not his proper son but I know exactly what you mean about wanting to make him a proper father. I want him to get to come home to his own proper family and do the okd fashioned real thing. Not that his son isn't real but you know what I mean??

nice dp!! You'll have to let me see some of your designs. I've not got a creative mind. I knit though. Started when I quit smoking. Looking forward to kitting out my own little brood in embarrassing matching umpers one day. I made some bootees for a work colleague whose wife is expecting in march. Thought it would upset me but I was alright :)

lol @ duster. Xx

JenferB · 15/01/2014 14:59

Hi there Right,

I have heard that even when people have few periods, they still ovulate, & can still get pregnant whilst not having any!!!
I can see why you'd not want to take AC with Clomid. I've heard about people taking that. Is it to stimulate the ovaries?

I know what you mean. I was hoping Christmas time might work it's wonders, by just relaxing alone, helping! I hear about people getting pregnant after going on hol, or even after adopting, because they just chill the hell out!!! Lol. You never know, maybe my Jan Birthday worked instead. TMI I know, but if I am Preg. it's down to the dining room table!!! Lol. Try it!

These women that use their children like whipping sticks, need to be dealt with. His ex wife was/is still very bitter after. 4 years, & was vile when she realised he'd met me. Even now she treats me as though I stole him
from her. We met two years after they divorced! My DP is the most amazing man I have ever met. To treat him the way she did/does is incomprehensible. Her loss, was def. my gain. My ex Fiancé who I had been with for 12 years had cheated on me with a work colleague. We had a beautiful house, etc, but it all went overnight. My DP & I thank every day that we've found each other.

I hope your BF manages to keep a relationship going with his DS. I know how much it costs though!!! Disgusting! 25k+ it's cost us so far.
This year we are determined to make it our year!
Every child deserves to see their parents.
Never put yourself down for not conceiving straight away. Added stress may make it take longer. I know it's easier said than done. I've sobbed to my DP many a time I've come on, blaming myself. Wishing that I could make this work for us both. What he says is true though. It's up to Mother Nature. When it's right, it will happen. We're in it together, no matter what, we've got each other, to support & help through it.
Your BF is with you because he loves you. Not because of how long it will take you to get pregnant. I'm a great believer in things happening at the right time. It generally falls into place! Smile
Well done for quitting the cigs! That will def help. Knitting's cool. I've not done it for years. Umpers! Lol. Love it! You'll have triplets now, you wait! Like busses, nothing and then three will come along at once!
The friend I was telling you about, is going to send me the video clip of their embryo being created into a blastocyst in the IVF lab later. Pretty amazing! It was there for 5 days before it was implanted.

Today has been a struggle!
Still no AF & I've scrubbed the kitchen down to get rid of my nervous energy! Lol. I think I'm going to test again on 4th missed day. If still BFN, then I'll call Docs for a blood test check!

All the best!
(Ps, ask Docs about AC & Royal Jelly, just to double check you can't take it with Clomid!)

JenferB · 16/01/2014 09:44

Morning Right,

When's your next Ovu window? How are you tracking it? Temp. CM, dates, OPK?

It's day 3 of no AF for me & I feel weird today. Hot, tired, although I woke at 6am, wobbly legs & strangely nauseous. Whether it's my body tricking me & being 3 days late for the first time ever, or whether it's something to get excited about, who knows?! Xx Shock

OP posts:
rightaboutthestars · 16/01/2014 12:07

I got crazy hot before my chemical so def think that's a preg sign :) so hopeful for you :)

I used to check my cm but worried it'll do more harm than good. Hah such a worrier! I track my AFs on pinkpad and jump on my boyf every day I can after AF has been gone a few days. I tried OPKs for a couple months but never got a positive. Either they dont work or i'm not ov??

Sucks to think I'm not ov but it does mean that if they give me the clomid it's mayne fixable?

Today was my first day at tbis fitness studio. Did an exercise and abs blast. Only woman in there hoping for a bigger belly :D

when will you be retesting? Baby dust to you me dear. Got fingers and toes crossed for you xxxx

JenferB · 16/01/2014 12:30

I'm positive you'll be fine! There are many worse fertility issues you could have & there are so many good treatments you can try.
It's so hard to track when the best time is. I've had tonnes of CM at times, but if that indicates your ovulating, sometimes that's too late. They say you can't get pregnant with fresh sperm as they have to capitulate before they can fertilise the egg. We tried many things, and mostly sex every other night. There are many differing opinions though. Net says every other to get quality. Every night can be too much as the sperm quality isn't as good. Doc said every 3/4 days as motility is better then. We thought the trick of getting in there early (so to speak) and allowing the sperm to sit and wait for the egg, was the best way. They apparently stay alive up to 6/7 days inside. I think they say mostly 2/3 though. At least then, when sperm meets egg there's more of a chance of it still being fresh and viable.
I've also tried cough mixtures with guaifenesin in the ingredients. It thins down mucas (everywhere!)Wink Just don't tell the pharmacist that's why your using it. Their licensing rules
won't allow them to sell it.
They say that if it's thinner, sperm had a better chance of swimming through. 3 doses the week of ovu roughly, & then they say stop after. Hope this is of help. Someone I used to work with was diagnosed with PCOS and is working at getting pregnant after visiting the Docs. (No she didn't sleep with him) lol. That sounded wrong!!! Grin
Hope this is of help.
Btw, I found some OPK to be hopeless. Superdrugs own always worked for me. They can be BOGOHP a lot of the time.
Thanks for your support!
We're testing tomorrow morning (unless we can't resist tonight!)...all going well Wink

Wishing you all the best. Xx

OP posts:
JenferB · 16/01/2014 12:33

Btw, I know what you mean. I'm always wanting to be bigger & I'm one of those strange woman who want to weigh more when she steps on a scales!
With regards to a tummy, well my best body bit are my abs! I will one day miss those, but if it means I will get a beautiful bump, I will embrace it! Grin xx

rightaboutthestars · 16/01/2014 13:21

Ooh some excellent advice. I waa thinking of heading into good old holland and barrett today and trying the agnus castus out while im waiting for my consultant appt. Might put a cough on at the chemists too :)

Stuff to hide lol. Boyf wants me to do exactly what doctors say, no more or less to take the worry off me and onto them but got a cycle before my appt so reckon some secret craziness can get squeezed in first :)

I was gonna tell him today to man up and get to it every night that we can apart from the odd night I sleep in at work but might rethink that and do every other. Sure its not his swimmers since his son was a one time deal. Tough for me to not get jealous of that and feel inadequate but comparison is the theif of joy apparently.

hah, wonder how many fertility docs get propositioned!!

Ooh to have abs! I have a pcos body to be honest. Loves holding onto weight. I'm a healthier eater and I struggle to shift it. Any weight loss is through near starvation. I literally get woken up with sugar cravings :(the other half is born to be an athlete. He has abs and lives on takeaways and chocolate. The odd run/bike ride and still lean and lovely. 6% body fat for him. Grrrrr.....

how do you keep your figure?

Lol least the bump wont be messing abs up for me. Im a size 14 but got to a 12 once on celenbrity slim and running. Starved myself to the point of hallucinating butwow was clothes shopping good!

Please let me know how you get on. Other people's bfps are going to be the best motivator. Please be my first! Will be thinking of you xx

rightaboutthestars · 16/01/2014 13:22

*thief.

naty1 · 16/01/2014 14:47

It's def worth getting checked for issues if you've been trying a while.
Something like 90% of couples would be pregnant in a year.
A sperm test is quite cheap (compared to all the money spent on vitamins ovulation tests and time wasted)

JenferB · 17/01/2014 09:32

Hi girls,

Yesterday I woke feeling so warm inside. Really excited that I was 3 days late, the only time if ever been late in my life.
By afternoon my stomach was showing those unmistakeable signs of AF pains. At first I held on to the hope it was spotting, but no.
I can't tell you how sad I was. When I finally realised our 16 month dream of TTC was still not over, I just sat & sobbed. Hmm
I tried to pick myself back up, thinking at least it wasn't a loss that some people have to face. I couldn't help wondering, because I actually felt pregnant, whether it had implanted & failed, or whether it was late because I'm now relaxing back into another cycle of days, after leaving work with a group of mainly women. I used to be 27 days, bit since we've been trying it's been 25/26 max.
I messaged my sister in law, who told me the same thing had happened to her. TTC for two years & she was 1.5 wks late and then AF.
A while ago I went to the docs who referred me after a year of trying & approaching 35. I've had blood tests, DP had sperm tests (all pretty normal, very slight motility issue, but that was down to bding and abstaining for 2, not 3 days!
The test I've been putting off us the HSG I think it's called, where they inject X-ray fluid into your tubes to check there are no blockages. It doesn't sound too pleasant, from the leaflet, but when I've been booked in, it's interfered with my OVU dates. Also you've got to call in the day you start your period, & abstain until you get your appointment. Some can take 2 wks, which means you can TTC. I was also worried at one point, after hearing my friends story, that u may have been unknowing pregnant whilst having this test . It can cause damage to your embryo.
Who'd have thought this could be so tough!!!
I'm hoping that this essay, gives others some useful info. I've found it really helpful reading other peoples stories.
So...
POSITIVE JENNI IS BACK!!!
I've decided this month I'm going in all guns blazing! Grin Lol

Drinking lots of water
One caffeine a day, which I have 2 max usually
Going to BBT test chart
OPK test too
Cough mixture before OVU
Got my preconception pills
My Oil of evening primrose before OVU
Royal jelly capsules
Selenium
I'll think about one green tea a dayConfused. Eugh!
Eat lots of fruit & veg.

I'M ON IT!!! Lol Grin

Oh and Right, I'm like your fella. Athletic Physique. Just the way I'm built, although when I rock climb it makes me super muscly! IVF stopped for a while for a break. I had a bad injury (not related) I had to go to the chiropractor to fix me. I think that stopping had caused the injury. Can't bloody win. My Chiro was actually telling me about how they can help fertility. They can moves things about to help the egg move better as the spine and it's nerves help propel the egg out of the ovaries! Shock Clever stuff. She tweaked a few things while she was there.
Phew, anyway, have a good day all.
Right, I will be your first BFP & then you will be mine! Grin
Good luck shopping for ACastus.
I've got a HSG app to book. I'm inly ever really on for 2 days, so I best hurry. Hopefully they can book me in. My DP btw, was so supportive. He was sad too I know. We 'd both started to get quite excited. He have me a huge cuddle & I sobbed it all out.
Love to you all xx

Oh no! I had a good feeling about that too. I often wonder when I'm late, was that a non-implanter, no egg or just no luck getting them together?? If you go with the theory that it's a non-implanter then I suppose there's hope in there? It means sperm can meet egg, just that there was a problem with that one particular egg????

A cry is good for you, gets it out. Oh hunni, if I had any kinda luck at all myself, I would send you some xxxx

heard that the hsg isn't much fun (the same thing as a lap and dye??) But I also heard that the procedure itself clears your tubes out so thats a tiny silver lining?

When my mister had the shingles, I read quite a bit about how your mind can heal your body. I'm a big believer in the psychological/physical link. Depressed people are always ill, always full of aches and pains. I know when people at work are stressed they always seem to be getting bad this that or the other. So, bring on positive jenni :) :)

He got rid of shingles in 2.5 weeks with positive thinking, herbal stuff and crazy expensive vitamins so we can do this :)

I did a metafit class today. It was like being in the marines or something. I found out what a burpee is the bad way :( im in so much pain!! Hopefully I'll be joining you in the athletic body club just in time to ruin it all lol!

A girl at work has crohns and got a gym referral from the gps. I was thinking of seeing if they'd give me one cause of the pcos/weight link? I wonder if just even a stone or two off might kickstart it. Or get the other half jumping on me a bit more lol, its got to help!! Banking on being a yummy mummy, quote me on that when im in my pyjamas at midday, unwashed, no makeup and sleep deprived :)

I decided against it, I only get a few shots at clomiphene so I want my body as blank as possible. If the ac interferes then it wont be out of my system until the clomiphene trial is done....

someone on some forum was talking about the bowen technuque once, is that similar do you think?

Massive love to you, take a week to regroup, replan and go for it again :)

Just to say I am sure my dye test was what helped me get my bfp after 2 years unexplained if - it can really make a difference to have cervix and tubes flushed through. I had hycosy (ultrasound) not HSG (x-ray) but the dye bit is the same I think - it wasn't fun but manageable. Worst bit was having to miss a cycle of ttc but you can imagine that it all seems worth it now!

jessplussomeonenew · 19/01/2014 18:27

Sorry, hit send by mistake before saying that I haven't forgotten the agony of a false hope crashing to the ground and I'm sorry you're going through this - hope your time comes soon!

JenferB · 20/01/2014 19:56

Hi there Right, Smile

Thank you for your support. I was very down about it, but you're absolutely right, mind over matter!!! Positivity is the only way forward!
That's the way I look at it (the non implanter!) at least it's practicing in sticking! Apparently it happens often. I'm sure my pregnancy bible says 50% of fertilised embryo's fail to implant.
Yes, I've heard the HSG (insertion of dye into your tubes while they X-ray your innards) isn't pleasant, but then I need to man up! Lol. It can't be anywhere near as bad as childbirth! Lol
I'm glad you're all over the shingles. Nasty thing! Hmm depressed people are definitely more ill!
Good work with the whole exercise regime! Don't go too mad though. All in moderation. I need to get back into my climbing. It's pretty therapeutic. My BMI IS 17.9. The hospital aim for 18 or above (I can't remember the ceiling point though) they weren't too bothered that it's slightly lower, as I'm naturally this weight & eat properly. Is definitely ask if they can refer you. If you don't ask...
Sounds good to keep to Clomid. Especially if you've only three chances. Why's that then? Is it because it either works for the person within a certain amount of attempts, or is it a cost thing for the NHS?!
Today I bought OPK's, pre-seed, which I think is fab anytime of the month, especially if you're like me & wash probably more than you should there, & then seem to have nookie too soon after & too dry! :/ it's meant to not interfere with sperm, whereas we used normal lube for a couple of months to start, not realising it's like superglue to sperm! Lol
Also bought 2 lots of Bells mucus mixture with that guaifenesin in. It was from Home Bargains for 89p! Bargain! The Benilyn was £3.99! Let's see if that helps them swim up! Grin
Thanks so much for your kind words. Going to order a basal thermometer and get charting too. I'll be armed and dangerous! Wink xx
