Anyone else having to wait to get pg because of maternity leave?

That's it - waiting to get pg so as to be sure I'm eligible for work mat leave - it sucks!

That is rubbish. I get enhanced if I wait 6 months but have decided not to wait. At this rate it'll take that long anyway for me. How long is the delay?

croquet · 13/01/2014 09:53

only 3 months or so - but still! Then it could not happen immediately.

Yes, that's the annoying thing. I waited 3 months to lose some weight and now wish I'd just got on with it but what can you do?

get a job lot of reduced advent calendars in the sale and sellotape them together Grin?

Depends how it works at your work croquet, do you need to be eligible before you start trying, or only from the earliest you could be expected to go off on mat?

Not sure if that's clear so: if you have a 6 month 'probation' before becoming eligible for enhanced mat leave, are you saying that a) you would need to wait the full 6 months before ttc, or b) before announcing (usually 10-12 wks?) in which case you could get preg around month 3 of probation period, or c) before you go off, in which case you could be up to 2.5 months pregnant before you even started the job?

Curious as I was in a similar position - not any more as still ttc and now well out of probation period Sad

It is basically that to be eligible for full leave you can only start ttc from day 1 of job (which I have not started yet).

Do you mean enhanced pay? I started a job at about 19 weeks and entitled to full leave but didn't qualify for SMP or any enhanced pay from my employer. Gov.UK states there's no minimum qualifying period for maternity leave.

croquet · 13/01/2014 11:59

yes I do mean special mat leave / enhanced pay

Ah OK, must be a good package. I wouldn't have put off TTC for a bit more pay but that's obviously a very personal decision. Good luck for when you start trying, will it be your first?

croquet · 13/01/2014 12:05

no, 2nd -hence money worries!
Thanks - and good luck to you too if you're on this board because of ttc too
