Um hello, newbie, ttc, needing a place to talk to people :)

I've been reading the site for ages but decided to sign up as need an outlet and place to talk as ttc is quite secret and it's not something I have loads of people I could talk about it with. Plus I'm quite shy and my ovaries aren't something to bring up at social gatherings!
I'm 31, came off pill in October and me and boyfriend have been ttc since. I didn't know how long it would take to get back to normal as had been on pill for eleven years. Turns out it took four weeks, and am now on third AF since coming off, so annoyingly normal in one way! I'm getting my head round all this tracking stuff but don't want it all to get clinical with the fella as it takes the fun away!
So just wanted to say hi and hopefully share in people's stories. It's not all as straightforward as I always thought, and I'm always the one that would start panicking something was wrong with me. I'm pleased I found somewhere I can just write it down if nothing else.
So, hi, and hopefully can take some good advice away.

always hope if no AF Helen!

Compared to last month here I was convinced I was pregnant, this mnth I'm convinced I'm not. Am on CD22, 8dpo, really sore boobs and bloated and cramps but it feels like AF symptoms, not pregnancy ones. A bit early for AF but my cycle has been a bit irregular. Also it is SO hot and humid here, I feel like a fat bloated whale!! God alone knows how I'd actually cope with being knocked up in the heat!

misskgb · 21/02/2014 22:27

Well af due 7 days but its DHs bday so having a few drinks. Decided I can't put everything on hold until I know for sure it's a bfp

Can't wait to check in tomorrow Helen to see your bfp. I'm convinced it will be. Never mind other pregnancy threads-we'll soon turn this from ttc to a pregnancy thread!

Helen87 · 22/02/2014 06:53

Bfn on FR and IC. So guessing not pregnant and body is just going crazy. Good luck to you all.

misskgb · 22/02/2014 07:45

Oh helen :-( how many days have your last few cycles been? Until af shows up then there's still a chance!

Ladymillion · 22/02/2014 07:50

Yep Helen some people don't get positive tests until very late in the cycle! So until AF arrives try not to write anything off. It's so frustrating seeing that BFN isn't it Hmm

weebairn · 22/02/2014 07:55

Wish I could give you a big hug Helen. It must be horrible stuck in limbo not knowing one way or another. Take care of yourself, do something nice for yourself today. This whole ttc business can be very stressful.

binkybunny · 22/02/2014 08:21

Oh Helen. That must be so frustrating! As everyone else has said dont give up hope yet! Go out for a nice lunch/ brunch with OH or friends. Big hugs from me

Helen87 · 22/02/2014 08:28

Yeah it's totally awful. Cried a good few times this morning. I just don't know what to do. I definitely had what I think was ovulation symptoms, loads of ewcm etc so I can't understand why AF hasn't turned up but I'm still getting bfns. I think I'm going to have to just wait and do nothing for the foreseeable, as painfully frustrating as that is. I've looked in to when the next doctors appointment is at my surgery and it's not until 13th March!!! So thinking that's totally a waste of time, as I seriously hope I would have an answer by then!!

I think I need to just do something to distract me and pass the time. Eurgh this TTC business is absolutely hideous.

Helen87 · 22/02/2014 08:29

Thanks for the well wishes too SmileSmile

Oh misskgb- I've only been off the pill since October and it took ages for me to get AF, but last AF came on time and then with what I thought was OV symptoms I just presumed she would come on time this month as well. Obviously not!!!!!!

misskgb · 22/02/2014 12:36

She's a cow!!! Dirty, painful, expensive unwelcome bitch!!

Maybe book the appointment if you're worried as if af still hasn't arrived u could ask for a blood test? I'm not sure. Def with weeb in wanting to hug u!

Helen87 · 22/02/2014 17:03

She really is, but right now I'd be relieved if she turned up because limbo land is just absolutely awful.

Spoke to someone on the 111 nhs number thing. She was absolutely lovely but said that yasmin pill is the strongest there is so it might just be that my body hasnt yet gone back to normal and the doctor probably wouldn't want to give me a blood test or anything yet. Can't make sense of it when I had all the same ovulation symptoms as last month.

Had a right strop this morning and said I want to give up TTC until I have a good run of normal cycles. This is still true but I also really want a baby so unfortunately looks like I'm stuck with the hell that is TTC!!!

misskgb · 22/02/2014 18:01

Dh wanted us to wait til I had regular cycles before ttc. I had first af 23rd nov n started ttc 6th dec oops!! :-) ive been really lucky that mine settled down straight away, bang on 24 days. Its really hard I know. But it really will be worth it in the end!!

Does your surgery have a nurse u can c for advice?

Lolly84 · 22/02/2014 20:00

Oh Helen I was really rooting for you. Hope you get a bfp soon. I have never been on the pill so can't imagine how frustrating it is for cycles to be messed up.

I was convinced AF was en route, felt really crampy on thurs and was due today. I got my head round that I was out this month, Now cramps have gone and no AF just feel bloated with sore bb. I go between 28-31 days cycles so got a couple of days to wait.

Who knows...

Helen87 · 22/02/2014 21:53

Yeah being on the pill definitely can't be the best for your body. Obviously plenty of people seem to go back to normal quickly so it can't be all bad but I'd definitely advise people to come off it at least 6 months before they want to start trying if they can!!

I really hope it's your month misskgb- we've been in this together from the start so I really think one of us deserves some good luck here!!

misskgb · 22/02/2014 22:15

Awwww me too! :-)

Helen87 · 23/02/2014 09:41

I'm going to disappear off for a bit and try as hard as possible to not think about it until I have some kind of answer.

Good luck to you all and I'll probably be back when I know my body a bit better and I can more accurately obsess!xxx

binkybunny · 23/02/2014 17:22

Awww Helen best of luck! x

Lolly84 · 23/02/2014 22:34

Just have to say waiting for AF is making me Grrrr.

misskgb · 23/02/2014 23:17

Me too lolly. Every twinge and pain makes me think something is happening inside this month. When she due?

Lolly84 · 24/02/2014 00:21

She was due sat, had spotting earlier so will prob be here today (Monday). Felt all AF symptoms on thurs and then totally went away until earlier. Pretty gutted to be back to square 1. The only problem is they say pg symptoms are like AF so can't help but get your hopes up. Good luck Misskgb xx

misskgb · 24/02/2014 08:00

Have u poas or r u planning to if she doesn't arrive today?

Hazelbrowneyes · 24/02/2014 17:06

Good luck Helen!

Good luck Lolly & kgb.

AF due tomorrow and I'm fairly sure she'll be on schedule. I definitely feel crampy today so I'm not hopeful.

cth1982 · 24/02/2014 17:11

Hi Fruity,

Am in the same boat! Came off the pill in November and am now TTC with gusto - have started doing the temp and CM checks as want to make sure I am ovulating (as I have PCOS) but this is the first month I am tracking - I agree who knew it would be so complicated!

Lolly84 · 24/02/2014 18:24

Misskgb, I would have poas if I had any, don't have a stash as would it all the time. The witch arrived this morning. Something diff happened this month which made me think I maybe pg, totally messed with my mind which has been frustrating. I am like clockwork and felt completely different. Gonna try again this cycle and then have a rest month for body and mind. Might feel diff after AF as think that gives you time to chill. Thinking about booking a night away around ovulation just to change things up. Might try opk too as haven't tried anything like that. I usually can feel ovulation. Maybe wrong though. How is everyone feeling? X

MintWeasel · 24/02/2014 21:37

Hi Everyone,

This is my first day as a member of the site, drawn here for v similar reasons to OP in that I can't talk to many people about me and OH planning ttc plus wanting to find out more about the whole business. Haven't started yet coz OH is waiting for a blood test for all clear from medication he was taking and we're now going to tropical SE Asia next month so thought prob not risk it before then.. Bit of a control freak as well so the whole uncertainty of ttc is doing my head in before we've even started!
Sorry, rambled on. Really looking forward to finding out more about having kids and sharing other people's journeys.
