Um hello, newbie, ttc, needing a place to talk to people :)

I've been reading the site for ages but decided to sign up as need an outlet and place to talk as ttc is quite secret and it's not something I have loads of people I could talk about it with. Plus I'm quite shy and my ovaries aren't something to bring up at social gatherings!
I'm 31, came off pill in October and me and boyfriend have been ttc since. I didn't know how long it would take to get back to normal as had been on pill for eleven years. Turns out it took four weeks, and am now on third AF since coming off, so annoyingly normal in one way! I'm getting my head round all this tracking stuff but don't want it all to get clinical with the fella as it takes the fun away!
So just wanted to say hi and hopefully share in people's stories. It's not all as straightforward as I always thought, and I'm always the one that would start panicking something was wrong with me. I'm pleased I found somewhere I can just write it down if nothing else.
So, hi, and hopefully can take some good advice away.

Morning guys!

Kiki I definitely thought I had a couple of months of shagging before I haf to get my head around it. I took a second test today just to confirm everything and after 3 minutes a much stronger bfp appeared!

Helen87 · 22/01/2014 07:26

Yep that's a fully fledged line now isnt it! Exciting times for you and Kiki Smile Smile More tww's for the rest of us!!

I can't imagine what it would be like to get a bfp. I'm not surprised you're both a little bit in shock still, I definitely would be!!

Hotbleg thing is weird!! Do you think you feel any different now you're pregnant?!

Hazelbrowneyes · 22/01/2014 08:32

Congratulations MrsB & Kiki! Fab news. Smile

So. I think I'm on my 2ww. I actually have no idea because my body is all weird. Can I share?

Ok, I'm sharing anyway Wink

Last month I had cramps on the following CDs: cd6, cd13, cd18 (these were horrendous) AF came on cd31/32

This month I had cramps on following CDs: cd7 (right side), cd12, cd13 (both left side), cd14 (right side).

So I was expecting horrendous cramps on cd18 again.

DTD cd5, cd8, cd11, cd13, cd15, cd18

Nope. Nothing. So did I ovulate on cd14? What about cramping on different sides of my body?

Since Monday I've had cramps constantly but they're irritating more than painful and they're moving, if that makes sense?

I wondered about sore boobs yesterday but my glands are raised so I think that's why they're sore. I feel sick but again if my glands are raised I could have a cold on the way.

If I ovulated on cd14 this will change my cycle length, right? So instead of being due on 31st/1st, I should be due on 28th...is that correct?

You wouldn't think I achieved an A in biology would you? Grin

mrsb87 · 22/01/2014 08:52

Im affraid all thats confused me a bit, easily done though! I would hazard a guess and say yes. Ive never taken much notice of my cycle days etc as my periods have been irregular by a couple of days either way. I thought this process was going to help me understand my cycles a little better but I'm still none the wiser.

KikiThePea · 22/01/2014 08:53

Morning!

Excellent news, mrsb, congratulations! Smile
I'm really pleased to have someone in the same situation! DH were chatting (surreptitiously) on the plane yesterday about timing, and we're still in shock at how quickly it all happened.

I've gotten surprisingly used to the indigestion/odd temperature moments to the point that they now feel normal. Nothing else feels any different really. I think today it's sinking in a little bit more as it's been a week since expected af...an that just seems so odd!

KikiThePea · 22/01/2014 08:58

Hazelbrowneyes - it's all so confusing, isn't it?!
It doesn't help that the information available re: cycle length and ovulation times/Luteal phases on the Internet/in books/through word of mouth is conflicting (an awful lot of the time)!

mrsb87 · 22/01/2014 09:04

Hmm yea it's still sinking in for me! I told my mum yesterday and she told me she was awfully sick when she was pg with me, I too feel horribly sick ALL the time, still hungry though. Weird. I hope I dont follow her example

on a more melancholy note I found out last night an old school friend had a stillborn at 20 weeks last year. I felt so sad for her. Can't imagine what she must have gone through. She is now raising money for SANDS.

KikiThePea · 22/01/2014 09:23

That's such a sad situation, mrsb. My mum gave birth to a stillborn daughter - she was almost full term, which is why I'm being very hesitant about telling her just yet about our news.

Hazelbrowneyes · 22/01/2014 09:32

Glad you're both confused too Grin

I will update with you what happens, when it happens!

I'm not sure how DH would feel if I fell pregnant this month. I think he'd be quite shocked & it would take some time for him to get his head around it. October would work well though - I enter a quiet period at work and that'd give me 6 months to get used to having a baby before work gets manic again.

I'm trying not to symptom spot as I don't think I'd be lucky enough to fall pregnant on first cycle and I really don't want to be disappointed. This is why I haven't got any pregnancy tests in either. I'm only going to test once AF is late.

Sorry to hear about your friend, Mrsb Sad

mrsb87 · 22/01/2014 09:35

Hehe yea october is good for me at work too but for the opposite reason, it means I won't have to be heavily pregnant during peak (christmas and new year), fashion retail is an absolute killer at christmas and I dont fancy being pg through that!

Hazelbrowneyes · 22/01/2014 11:21

Heavily pregnant during summer would be a bit annoying as we're super busy but I'd be working from home most days.

Cramps getting more intense and in left side. So maybe I'm ovulating today? Gah, I wish I knew!

I'm going to have to invest in some OPKs, I think Grin

binkybunny · 22/01/2014 16:06

Your pg symptoms are making me get too excited! I have felt sick but hungry for a while now and lots of cramping. Totallyoff tea and coffee. Going to poas this weekend it will be 3 days befpre af due but just too excited!

It rrally scares me hearing about still births and such. I just dont know how I'd cope.

KikiThePea · 22/01/2014 16:15

Binky, I caved 5 days before af was due! You're much stronger willed than I was!

Problems during pregnancy aren't as common as I think we make ourselves believe. I think the way to handle it all is just take each day as it comes - as my gp said last week, in most cases there should be no reason to believe that something will go wrong; you just need to manage your expectations (as difficult as that is when all you wan to be is excited!). I don't know, maybe I have a slightly skewed view knowing the problems my parents had, but I don't intend to worry about something until there's something to worry about - otherwise the next 8 months will be horrendous! (More horrendous?)

weebairn · 22/01/2014 16:19

Hey loves

I was on page one of this but had to remove myself for a couple of weeks due to going a bit nutty during the 2 week wait!

Now my period is 4 days late… and to be honest I think I am probably pregnant! It was first cycle though so cannot believe my luck! Still trying to hold off testing a few days...

mrsb87 · 22/01/2014 16:38

Why are you waiting weebairn?! If af is late theres no benefit to waiting surely?

Joellen13 · 22/01/2014 16:46

Hi I've been reading this site for just over a week, I'd like some advice if possible as I'm quite new to this!
Me and my partner decided to start trying in October, I had my implant out in the middle of October! af's started regularly after having it taken out although I had an AF at the beginning of December and then again at the end of December which came a few days early, it was eve light and only last two days! My AF was due today and hasn't it hadn't come by the time I finished work today I decided to do a test when I it home (excitement got the better of me) there was a distinct first line and then after a minute quite a faint second line appeared? What do you ladies think?

weebairn · 22/01/2014 16:49

It might be a bit silly, but if I had a really really early miscarriage /chemical pregnancy I'd rather not know and just think it was my period! I'm going to test at the weekend. Sorry if that's really negative! I'm quite enjoying my own little maybe-secret.

But I feel just like I did the first time I was pregnant. Weeing every hour. Bit crampy.

weebairn · 22/01/2014 16:50

Joellen - if you have a line (even if it's faint) you're pregnant! Congratulations!

weebairn · 22/01/2014 16:52

Reading back it looks like congrats are in store for Kiki and mrsb too. :)

Helen sorry you got your period this time - are they becoming regular at all?

Joellen13 · 22/01/2014 17:03

Thank you! I'm going to do another test in the morning and try to contain my excitement as much as possible! Really thought my Af was going to arrive as I've had really bad stomach cramps since Saturday but much worse than I've had before an Af before

mrsb87 · 22/01/2014 17:12

Thanks weebairn, joellen sounds like you may have some exciting news coming up!

kiki have you ventured into the pregnancy forum yet? Its a little scary over there from what I see...eek!

Helen87 · 22/01/2014 17:20

Hi everyone, looks like I've got loads to catch up on today! I'm liking all the ladies who seem to have got pregnant very quickly coming out out of the woodwork today! Definitely positive news for the rest of us!

It is very sad to hear about people who have stillbirths and other pregnancy complications. But my sister had a baby at 27 weeks and she's absolutely fine now, so you have to just keep the faith that there is a lot that they can do now and like your GP said Kiki, you can't presume anything will happen! I will need to take my own advice though because I am such a worrier!

weebairn- welcome back! Yes my period came after 28 days this time so I'm hoping that's the start of a regular cycle fo me! Well done for the restraint to hold off POAS! I am going to try and wait until AF is late in future but I don't know how I'll do. I'll keep my fingers crossed for you :)

Joellen- congratulations, I'll second weebairn- if it's a line it's a line! Most tests seem to say use the first wee of the day so maybe test again in the morning if you want to be doubly sure?!

Binky- I'll feel my fingers crossed for you and don't forget to update us!!

Hazel- I can't offer any advice on the ovulation stuff because it's all very new to me. But last month I found I was bloated for a few days and had what felt like pinching on one side and then I had EWCM one night and the got a positive on an OPK the next day and AF rocked up about 11 days after that so I'm guessing that must have been my ovulation symptoms!

In terms of when I would like to have a baby, it wouldn't be ideal to be pregnant over Christmas and I wouldn't really like the baby to have a Christmas birthday, but I'm not really bothered either way!

Think that's everyone replied to!

KikiThePea · 22/01/2014 18:22

Welcome back,weebairn!

Joellen - I agree with the above - 'a line is a line'!

Mrsb - I haven't gone over there properly. I'm too scared! I like this little corner of mumsnet and will venture out occasionally to check on things elsewhere, but I can't bring myself to participate. I like our support network here!

misskgb · 22/01/2014 18:38

Hazel- I'm only on cycle 3 since coming off the pill. They say even if AF comes on time making us think our cycles are settled, OV can actually happen between days 7-12 of the cycle

I'm due to OV today but given the condition of my CM I think it may have happened a day or so ago. Dtd at the weekend and again this morning so now I think I'm entering my first official TWW (having not actually taken notice of days in other cycles)

mrsb87 · 22/01/2014 19:19

Hmm yea I think I like it here, will stick around a bit longer!

Ooooh misskgb the dreaded 2 week wait! Nightmare!
