I'm very nervous. We have 2 DC's and no plans for any more. DH had his op last year before DC2 was born. It took me a while to relax and trust it had worked. Even after his all clear test. But I'm now sat here 4 days late. I'm never late, apart from pregnancy, only once ever. Just waiting sat with a test until I need a pee. Has anyone ever had this happen or is it very rare?

Did he have his sperm tested after the operation to make sure it was successful?

Yes, got BFN. I have had negative tests with both DC's so I'm still a little nervous. Just a waiting game now...

yes amy, he was clear. I did a search earlier to see what the liklihood was of it failing. I expected to be reassured but found the opposite, damn Google. Blush

The headline rate for vasectomy failure is 1:2000, but it's estimated that about half that arises from abandoning other contraception before the all clear.

So although it's possible, it's very, very rare.

If you are prone to worry, you can get reanalysis of semen done from time to time (eg Marie Stopes offers this service at £30).
