Folic acid

I'm hoping to start ttc my first baby in February. I'm currently on the pill and was wondering if it was safe to take folic acid while on it. Also I've read that it should be taken for three months before conceiving and for the first three months after conception-if it takes a while to conceive is there a limit for how long you can take it?

Yes you'll be fine to take it now and for as long as you need to.

Hi.

Nope fine to take it whilst on the pill and no limit on how long you can take it for either.

Good luck x

You may also want to consider coming off the pill and using a different method of contraception until you start ttc. it can be helpful to get your cycle back on track as it can take a while to settle back to a natural pattern.

I've been on it for 3 years! It's just a B vitamin - there is some of it in most multivits and several foodstuffs anyway!

I agree with puppy. Try condoms for a while as your body may take time to adjust and it will help you learn about your cycles.
