Hi all,
I came off the pill (Yasmin) at the end of August having been on it for 8 years and we're actively trying for a baby. After I stopped I got the usual withdrawal bleed then nothing for 7 weeks. Since then I have had no fresh bleeding but every 2-4 weeks (timeframe varies) I have old blood/ brown discharge for around 5 days.
I was expecting it to take a while for my body to regulate again but has anyone experienced this? Should I see a doctor?

It took me 6m to get a period after coming off the pill (think it might have been Yasmin). It sounds like your body is trying to get back on track but not quite getting there. Are you getting other fertility signs (cm etc)? I remember getting lots of cramping and spots whilst my hormones regulated themselves.

You could try agnus castus (vitex): a herb which helps regulate hormones. It doesn't add anything (so it's not a supplement) but works with what you've got. Do some reading around on it (not everyone likes it) but I've used it whilst ttc#1 and #2 and it seems to help (at the very least, it didn't hurt).

If you're concerned though (or time is short), then I'd see a doctor in another month or so.

It took me 9 months to conceive my first after being on the pill for about 5 years

Have you been temping? To me it sounds like you are failing to Ovulate, though I think the time span between cycles should be longer with this. It could also be your estrogen levels are lowered or the lining is too thinned from the pill. If I were you I would go and see my GP for bloodwork.

On a positive note: I had a period 6m after coming off the pill, then we started ttc (I'd purposefully come off before we wanted to ttc), and I got pg first cycle. So no long term damage; just frustrating waiting!

Thank you all. I have not been temping/ using opks as I had wanted to take a more relaxed approach with the theory that I would get as worried/ stressed but not sure it's working! I haven't noticed ewcm although I've been on the pill since a teenager so not entirely sure what things were like pre pill. My skin has been worse than it's been in years in recent weeks but that could be all the Xmas chocolates!
My gut feeling is to book a Drs appointment but feel like they'll just tell be I'm being daft and to come back in a year or something.

Hi it took 4 months for me to get a period after coming off femodene pill for 12 years. I had a couple of months of terrible skin and use an anti biotic cream on my face to help. They have went down but can get pretty bad at certain times of my cycle.

My period is now relatively normal and roughly 28 days long. I am still ttc number 1 after a year but feeling hopeful after a visit to gp. Got thigs in motion to have a blood test for progesterone and hubby having sperm tested. So just relaxing and trying not to over analyse. Easier said than done I know.

Hope you get things sorted. Visit to gp wouldn't hurt
