Question about EWCM so close to AF due date

I am expecting af any time from last night to tomorrow evening. This morning thought it was here as had ewcm. This is the first month I haven't used opks so could by rare coincidence just be ovulating tremendously late, but I've never ovulated this late. Any stories or accounts of what might cause this?

EWCM may happen a day or two prior to AF: it's the outer lining of the womb shedding itself. Sorry if that's not what you want to hear.
