Can you get a BFP after a late cycle?

This may seem like a daft question but has anyone ever had or heard of someone getting a BFP after having a really late cycle? Just asking as it's kinda thrown everything out of sync as I was 10 days late so any resulting due date is way off what it was before - so can it happen straight away or will it take a few months to settle down again?

Not sure what you mean, but I had a 40 day cycle once, was :( as I'd never had one that long.

The next month I got pregnant :)

That's great news! I was just trying to see if a late cycle in any way delayed your chances of trying to conceive! I was on CD38 last month when AF arrived with a vengeance :( no idea what to expect this month so just keeping my fingers crossed!

I'm on cd33 today with no AF and no BFP, so I know how you feel. But yes, I definitely had no problem before!

I got myself really worked up last month, tested on CD 35 and got a BFN but was convinced I was pg as was having symptoms I'd never had before! So this month I'm just relaxing and enjoying it, it's only been 4 months for us after all! Annoying thing is, I can't test til after Christmas so don't know if I can drink or not! Sober one for me just in case then! Have you had any PMS symptoms yet? If not then hopefully you'll get a BFP in a couple days!

That is annoying! Will you not allow yourself anything to drink at all?

Funnily enough after replying to you I went for a wee and it was pink when I wiped - so hopefully this is AF arriving and I can just write this month off! Hadn't ha my usual pms symptoms at all apart from a few spots today, it was very odd.

Fingers crossed for you, are your cycles quite irregular then?

tinaw20 · 15/12/2013 20:21

I'll maybe have a couple glasses but I'm not doing much on Christmas anyway so it doesn't really bother me! It's more my work Christmas night out this Friday that I'm worried about! As long as I don't get rat arsed I should be ok ;) I have abstained the last 4 months to no avail so maybe letting my hair go a bit this month won't do any harm!
Yeah it's good to know either way so hopefully you can get that over with and start next month! How long have you been ttc?
I was on the pill for 10 years so was extremely irregular when I last came off! Was only back on it for 18months though and I think my cycles were around 34 days previously, atm I've been between 28-37 days! Gave up on using opk's this month so have just been doing the BD every other day Grin

I would go for it tbh. Actually, I convinced myself I wasn't pregnant when trying for DD2, so drank a whole bottle of wine Blush then found out the next day that I was pregnant with her! Sod's law... Maybe it'll work for you Wink haha.

Tbh we haven't been "trying" as such, although saying that I thought we were in with a good chance this month. Next month, will have to try harder! What about you? Would it be your first baby?

I've never used the opks. Dtd every day or every other day seemed to work Grin my cycles have been 25 - 33 days since coming off the pill in the summer, I was breastfeeding too so that might've affected things.

tinaw20 · 15/12/2013 21:49

You're still breast feeding and want another? My word you're keen! Haha! Yeah it's our first attempt! Dh has been banging on about kids since we got married in 2010 but I wasn't ready yet then this year it just hit me!! I keep getting twinges that I think might be ovulation but my cm has gone back to non fertile so I've no idea! Currently on cd24! I'm all over the place tho tbh, knew it wouldn't be easy or happen quickly!

Haha I've just stopped feeding her - she's 12 months!

Think I'm going to reconsider this in a year, and I've started the pill today :( it's the sensible option.

Good luck for you though, and re the fertile cm - last month I had LOADS of egg white cm on cd12-13. Yet my period is only now just starting, on cd34. So it can't have been ovulation! Word of warning if you're relying on that. It's sweet about your dh! My DP is more keen than me, but he works away while I'm a SAHM, so he gets away with a lot Wink

tinaw20 · 16/12/2013 20:17

Well they say closer age gaps are better for the kids! I'm a bit younger than DH so that's prob why he's always been keener than me! I was always concerned about adding to our menagerie with a baby but know that I'm in the mindset I feel we can cope with anything :)

Yeh, they have similar interests etc. I'm still very broody but the three children go to bed at 7 and then it's me time... If I had another I'd have to say goodbye to that and right now, it's essential!

Menagerie :) love that word... Do you mean pets? You will definitely cope with a baby :) it's strange how your mindset changes... I found my first baby very hard, but now I have three I think one would be a piece of cake Grin

tinaw20 · 17/12/2013 08:06

I'm from a family of 4, I'm the youngest and my mum waited 12 years to have me! I personally wouldn't leave it that long as I've never been super close to my siblings with there being such a huge age gap! Sounds like you have your hands full now though!
Haha, yeah I have 2 labs, 2 cats and a tropical fish tank! I swear they eat better than I do so I know it won't change much with having a baby! My only real concern is getting rid of the litter trays!
