Swimming while TTC?

Does anyone know if swimming could hamper TTC process in the fertile period? Mainly by altering the alkaline (it otherwise) status of the vagina? Is there any length of time before/after BD that the pool should be avoided?

Ilovesmurfs - that's very encouraging! Thanks for your quick reply.

Did you also swim during your pregnancies? Any advice on what to/not avoid?

i swam through my pregnancies yes. it was fine. i was careful with breast stroke as i had spd but on the whole i found swimming fine and its recomended as a good form of exercise inlregnancy. not least because it relieves the weight of the buml!

you can carry on doing whatever exercise your body is used to, they say not to start a new routine or to check with midwife first.

listen to your body and if you feel you are doing to much slow downa but. but moderate exercise is good in the early months when i was knackered it really helped to energise me.

Thanks for that bit of info. I do swim regularly & would like to keep doing it for as long as I can manage.

Sorry what's SPD?

Any sperm that are capable of fertilising an egg are up through the cervix before you have finished your post coital cuddle. Swimming after sex, even an hour after, will not do any harm whatsoever.

SPD is a highly annoying pelvic pain that some women suffer from during pregnancy. For some it severely restricts their mobility. As swimming is non weight bearing many women find it a good form of exercise during pregnancy.

Thanks kat! Will be able to swim at peace now.
