Hi Ladies, not been on here in a while - I am posting for a friend in desperate need of answers.
She has been LTTTC for 5 years - 3 MCs, IUI treatment and countless tests etc. Last Monday one of her ferility blood tests showed she was strongly oving, but this morning she has an extremely strong BFP!?!? And it's VERY positive. She last DTD 19 days ago - she has PCOS and is wondering if that could cause a false PG test?? or could the blood test showing ov from one of the top private clinics be wrong?? Please could anyone share if there are any similar experienes. May thanks in advance

From what I know/have read, it's practically impossible to get a false positive pregnancy test. But I could be wrong. Didn't want to read and run. Hope it's good news for your buddy!

I've never seen anything to suggest PCOS causes false positives. Is she currently receiving and treatment that could have caused the result though? Otherwise sounds very positive!

Nope. PCOS messes with a lot of hormones but not HCG. She would needed to have ovulated to get PG, so I'm not sure why she thinks that the blood test confirming ovulation would be wrong because of the BFP? The blood test for ovulation tests for progesterone levels as these go up after ov, and then go up again if the egg is fertilised. She is PG!

Sometimes ovulation tests will show a positive if you are pregnant because they detect the same types of hormones as a pg test (doesn't work other way round though). So her positive ovulation result may actually have been a BFP for pregnancy!
