Ovulating and menstruating????

Hi I would like some advice please.
I am 30yrs old and trying for my first baby. I came off the Depo in November 2012 and had no periods for several months then very irregular periods. Because of this I began using the clearblue ovulation kit (4days).

For the last few months my periods and ovulation have been very regular, however just to be sure I have continued to use the OPK.
Yesterday was my first high fertility day, which is exactly when it should have been according to my calendar and cycle over the last few months, but after sex when I was in the bathroom I noticed it had a pinkish tinge.
This morning I used the kit again and it shows my second high fertility day, exactly as I would expect - however I am continuing to bleed.
It is not what I would call spotting and I am having to use a panyliner. The blood is much darker than usual however it does seem to be getting heavier with a few clots.
How can this be? How can I be ovulating and menstruating at the same time?

Any advice would be appreciated.

Thank you

Please note, I am now convinced I am having a period, as the flow seems normal for this in colour and volume. Why does the OPK show im ovulatin? why would this happen exactly the time I should be ovulating (two weeks since my last period)? why would my periods become irregular again after so many months?

Thank you

Mid Cycle bleeds are not uncommon. I recently had one and it showed on my tests I was soon to Ovulate as well. I misfired however and then Ovulated a week later and really heavily. Now I am 9-10 DPO.

Thank you

sorry if I seem a little slow but does this mean I am actually ovulating? should we carry on as if I were or will I ovulate later after the bleeding? should I continue to use the OPK sticks?

thanks again

You could be yes. How heavy is the flow?

dal933 · 06/12/2013 10:25

it does seem lighter than this morning - id say very light now

Oh, sorry (having brain farts). Also, yes I would continue to use the OPK sticks until you are able to confirm with them along with CM you have indeed Ovulated as usual. If you continue to see a surge and an increase in CM you could actually Ovulate a few days to a week later like me.

Thank you - thats reassuring - we'll just keep trying - fingers crossed :) x

Good luck! :))

Hey I had a mid cycle bleed one week after menstruation my OPKs indicated ovulation when I would expect but next period was a week late therefore giving me a 28 day cycle from my second bleed. Remember OPKs will detect a surge it does not necessarily mean you have ovulated. I dumped them this month

Did ur af carry on dal933? Im in a pretty similar situation, coil removed 2 weeks ago had a half day period 8 days ago, got a positive opk yesterday and then spotting turned up last night which has got heavier this morning. Im so gutted if this means my next af is now due 4 weeks from now as i really wanted to be able to POS on xmas day but this will throw me into new year :-(

dal933 · 08/12/2013 19:35

Hi, yeh its really confusing. My af has continued as normal but I got none of the 'warnings' I usually get before hand (swollen breasts etc), I've also continued to use the opk and got the two high fertility and two peak fertility days exactly as expected. We've found it very difficult this time of year too as we daren't make any plans just in case. We've just carried on trying as it can't do any harm and we're hoping for our own Xmas miracle, I'll keep my fingers crossed for you too xxx
