Hello all,

I've been lurking on here over the past couple of weeks (wishing best of luck to all of you ttc!) and am becoming, perhaps prematurely, neurotic about ttc...any advice/reassurance/shared experience on below would be wonderful from all you wise ladies!

My main concern is that recently I went on the minipill for two months (had previously been on combined for 6 years but then my blood pressure went up). During time on the minipill I had no periods at all (I know this is common, though the whole 'it means you're not ovulating' thing is freaking me out...). DH and I want to start ttc, so stopped minipill 2 weeks ago - and still no AF, no CM, nothing (though realise this may be too early). Before I went on combined pill I was very regular but just worried that after all this time pill could have been masking probs I didn't know I had.

I know I'm probably being a stress monkey over nothing - and I apologize if this might seem offensive to those who have been ttc for a while - but I'd love to hear from anyone with experience of minipill and ttc...thanks so much in advance xx

err, anyone?

would really appreciate anyone else's experiences with mini pill (my brand was femulen, if that helps), periods (or lack of) and ttc...thanks x

if you've had no bleeds at all is there any chance you could already be pregnant? Otherwise may be worth seeing your GP to do a hormone test to check you are ovulating

cazzybabs · 17/07/2006 14:39

I had no periods when I was on the minipill and took about 4 months for them to become regular again. I am trying to TTC at the mo and am on month 3, but shall try to aviod c until December to aviod summer born baby!

thirtysomething · 17/07/2006 14:43

crazybabs why do you want to avoid summer baby if you don't mind me asking? I had ds in the summer and it hasn't held him back academically, just makes it easier to organise outdoor birthday parties? Plus it was a lot easier feeding during the night when it was warm than when I had my second baby who was a winter-babe and i hated feeding in the night as it was freezing cold!

thanks for the feedback. cazzybabs that's reassuring you didn't have periods on minipill either....so thanks for that.

in answer to the pregnancy question, i've done about 5 tests already (having no af on the minipill made me test about every 10 minutes but now I'm off really hoping for bfp soon and af when it's due so at least i'll be a bit more reassured that everything seems to be working 'normally'. so paranoid af won't come though and it will be another bfn...but perhhaps i'm being silly? did anyone else start worrying like this as soon as they started ttc? x

I have an may child and an Oct child and I think dd2 will have a big advantge when she starts school but also selfish (as I teach) don't want to waste maternity leave in the summer holidays but to be honset I go through phases of thinking must not have summer born child to blinking nora will I even get up the duff.

bobblehead · 17/07/2006 16:16

glittercaz I worry like that constantly! I'm ttc#2, got pregnant quickly with dd but am still worrying and have only had 2 periods since finishing breastfeeding!

Oh and get used to the paranoia as it'll last through ttc, being pregnant and then rest of motherhood as far as I can tell

glittercaz · 17/07/2006 16:21

glad it's not only me bobblehead! am going to try to just calm down and relax...if af doesn't arrive in the next few weeks (and it's not due to a lovely bfp!), i'll head to the gp to try to see what's going on...x
