Ovulation question

Hi guys,
I am totally new to this TTCing and I am currently in my 1st 2WW! I just wanted to make sure I am right in my guess at when I ovulated to make sure I get my dtd right for next month.
My AF came on the 11th Nov last month and my phone app suggested I would be ovulating exactly 2 weeks later. Is this always the case because I was using the cheap ovulation tests from the internet and I had faint lines up to 21st Nov (so 10 days after AF) then on the 22nd the darkest line yet (v dark though still not as dark as the control line) then the next day and ever since no lines at all?
So basically is it possible to ovulate 10 days after AF and are the internet cheap ov tests reliable? I'm also soo impatient and wondering if this potential early ovulation means I can do a pregnancy test early?
If anyone has any ideas would be much appreciated because I'm still trying to get my head around all the ttc stuff! x

Yep, you can ovulate 10 days after your AF. However, I would say POAS on the day your next Af Is due.

I thought you counted back 14 days from Af? Obviously no help this time but give you a rough date for next month iyswim? So let's say Af came on dec 6th, count back 14 days to nov 26th and that's when you should have ovulated? So then apply that to next month?
Mind you, you don't always ovulate on the same day each month so that's not as much help... Sorry Smile

Thanks, so does that mean it is likely to be the same every month? And not meaning to sound stupid but what is POAS? :)

Yeah that's what I thought ThisIsMe, but my AF is very regular exactly every 28 days so to count back from there I should have ov Monday 25th but the ov test and cm didn't seem to suggest that!
I'm getting so confused! I know I should just dtd every few days throughout my cycle but I wanna make sure I know when I'm ov to give myself the best chance!

Poas is pee on a stick Smile

I may be wrong but I think ovulation can change even if your Af stays the same? So even if Af is bang on 28 days, ov might not be 14 days before? Sorry, not really helping am I?!

Ram19 · 03/12/2013 19:52

No that is useful thanx! I didn't realise ov could change every cycle!! guess I'll just have to keep using the ov sticks to check when am ovulating as I'm not very good at checking the cm!

I think I ovulated on the 10th day of my cycle also. Was really upset as I hadn't dtd in the run up - managed once on the day so you never know.

As to the counting back 14 days bit, the reasoning behind this is that your luteal phase (the bit after ovulation) doesn't change. The phase before ovulation can change in length (although if you have regular periods it's likely to be at the same time every month). My luteal phase is only 12 days, so counting back 14 isn't always accurate.

I only worked this out over a few months of keeping an eye on my cycle, so don't worry if you're confused as hell for a while!!

Ram19 · 06/12/2013 17:02

Thanks for all the advice everyone!! Now I've got a new confusion! I am due on on Monday (and my cycle is normally very regular) But I got some light bleeding yesterday and a bit heavier today. Now I think am clutching at straws (and I've taken a pt and a bfn) but could it be implantation bleeding? I think it may be too late and too heavy for implantation bleeding? I'm sending myself mad with googling stuff!! x
