I have a gorgeous DS who will soon be 2. In a few months, when I will be aged 37, DH & I will also begin TTC DC2.

I am feeling very apprehensive.

Not about having another child, because I really really want another, but about the pregnancy.

Pregnancy with DC1 was hard. I had hyperemesis till 20 weeks, & full blown PUPPS from 39 weeks till 6 weeks after the birth.

Then there was the pre-eclampsia, and an induction well after a week after DC was due. DS was born with the cord around his neck, and sex was painful for a year after.

Reassure me I can do this again, and that it's worth it!

Ps have I posted this in the right place?

I think second time around you will have everything on record so right from the off you will be carefully monitored and there will be advice regarding those problems first time round. That's not to say your experience second time around will mirror the first time. Knowing that you gave birth to your DS and that it was worth it for the end result might even help you. I suspect if you ask on Pregnancy or even in a high traffic area like Chat you would get a variety of replies but the majority would be positive.

PS Disclaimer: I am not medical so don't take my word for this, always ask a professional. I was reading online about PUPPS it sounds horrendous but have you looked into Dandelion Root capsules? There is talk of Dandelion Root capsules being very helpful in combatting PUPPS. Another suggestion is to make a light paste of water and bicarbonate of soda to apply to the area which soothes.

Hi, I know the feeling. I would like to have a second but suffered from hyperemesis with my son and am feeling apprehensive too. I've got a thread on here about it somewhere!

I'm presuming previous history of pre-eclampsia would mean you'd be more closely monitored this time round. That was certainly the case with a friend of mine who went on to develop it a second time and was induced pretty promptly.

Hi Henrietta, I felt apprehensive about having DC2 and it took me a while to feel mentally ready to start TTC. Once we made the decision TTC though it was like a weight had been lifted and now I don't feel apprehensive at all (although nothing has changed!) and I'm really quite excited again.
