Early 20's & TTC

Hi Everyone,

Quite new to all of this, but since my DP and I have decided to start TTC in the new year I just thought it would be nice to have people to talk to.

Since making the decision it's all I think about, and the excitement is overwhelming. I have felt ready for a long time, but my DH has finally decided he is ready, and it's not a decision taken lightly!

I cant stop looking on forums etc trying to find info on what to do and what not to do when TTC and we haven't even started yet!! I'm already hoping we get BFP quickly as I really want it to be an enjoyable time and not stress us out!

Has anyone else found the thought of TTC can completely consume your thoughts?!

Would love people to talk to & people that can relate as DP is great but doesn't quite understand it like other women!

Hello, I've just started TTC with my DP. We're quite young hut it as overly discussed, got savings etc. I too have been ready for ages and DP agreed last month.
I'm so excited, all I can think about and reading books all ready!
Hope you get your BFP soon!

I'm 20 and will also begin trying in January. BIL's wedding coming up and Christmas, so would like to get all that out the way first.

Yes 1st baby! Possibly only baby.

Everything I see at the moment is pregnant women, babies, baby clothes!

Even waiting until January seems like a long time away but with Christmas coming up (first Christmas in new home) I thought it would be nice to be able to celebrate with some bubbly and start 2014 with a 'bang'! Quite literally

clargo55 I'm only 22, so still young but I see this as a positive. DP and I are in a better place than a lot of people in their 30's! It's nice to have similar people around to talk to :)

I'm currently taking folic acid, but I feel like I could be doing more. I don't drink much (a glass of wine or two at weekends) and I exercise daily but I still feel like I'm not doing enough.

Planning TTC gives you so much time to sit and think and research.

Anyone else been stuck to their PC finding out info etc?

Yes babies everywhere, a few of my colleagues and a very close aunt have just announced their pregnant. Very happy for them, but slightly jealous at the same time.

I know some people judge, but I think age is irrelevant. I think where you are in your own life's means the most. We own a house have good stable jobs etc. I know a few people in their 30's who should be nowhere near children, yet they are.

Just started my folic acid yesterday and aiming to up the exercising a little bit. I don't drink or smoke, but do eat far too much chocolate and drink lots of will try and cut that down hehe.

I have been lurking on MN for ages so felt it was finally time to come out of hiding when I saw this post!!

I am 23, DH is 27 and we have been ttc #1 since our wedding in July. I started this ttc melarkey naively thinking it would happen straight away for us seen as we are young so it is a shock for me to be approaching Christmas with no bfp as yet!!!

So it would be lovely to chat to those of you in a similar situation to me. lollzy I totally get what you mean about seeing babies everywhere... I have become totally consumed by it haha!! And yes I'm definitely glued to the PC researching but finding that there's so much conflicting information out there!

Autumnleaves198 I am a tad older (ahem 29) but I too thought it would be a walk in the park. Maybe I was naive but we have been trying since September, early days at the moment but all this information can be slightly overwhelming [smil]

I know some people judge. How awful that some people do. Circumstances are different for everyone. I shouldn't really join this thread as I am early thirties, sorry,mbut I consider us all in the same boat; wanting a BFP . It's crazy, but since coming off the Pill, I seem to be thinking about it more and more!

It would be so lovely to have a LO here by next Christmas or expecting at least. Good luck to everyone.

I'm 24 and DP is the same age. We're not telling people we're TTC but I think whatever age we would keep that a secret! Sadly I know some people who are going to turn their noses up and say we're too young, but I think people feel ready at different points in their lives and everybody has different circumstances. I think it's sad that people generally feel pressured to be a bit older to have a baby and the way financial situations often work out, people really can't afford to plan for a baby. My DP and I met at uni, have both travelled the world, I've worked in SE Asia as a teacher and he's worked as a ski instructor in France, now we're both settled back home with stable jobs and a mortgage and a little kitten! It drives me mental when I've mentioned to people in the past that we want a baby sometimes soon and they give me an almost patronising look and some schpeel about "oh make sure you've lived your youth and experienced life!" I don't feel like I'm going to be letting anything go or missing out on anything, I genuinely think the best experiences of our lives are going to start when the LO arrives!

mammabear4 I could not agree more. If I had my way then I would have had children sooner. I guess circumstances and feeling ready personally prevented me from doing so. Everyone feels ready at different times and no one should judge a woman for having a child earlier or later. You are dead right that there is never a perfect time for having a child. Yes, being financially stable, having a home etc all helps of course, but you sound like you have your head firmly screwed on

I'm so glad there are others who have had and feel exactly the same as me! I do feel like people can be so patronising when you tell them you want to have a baby at 22!

If we all waited for the perfect time to TTC no one would! I genuinely don't believe me waiting 8 years until I'm 30 would change anything! Me and dp couldn't be in a better place really... Not perfect but what or who is really!

Sometimes I feel I need to explain myself to people when I tell them me and dp want a baby but really shouldn't!

mammabear4 me and dp will also keep it a secret when we start TTC even though I'd love to shout it off the roof tops as I'm so excited!!

Even thought we are not TTC until January all I keep doing is planning and looking things up on the Internet to prepare me! Would be great to find people in the same kind of position and TTC at the same time to talk to! Especially since we are not telling anyone we know!

Having a LO will really be when our lives start, you're so right! And I can't wait :)!!

I hope we all get the BFP's we are hoping for when we start trying!

Becky I've found a lot of the information out there overwhelming for sure but the hardest bit is trying to relax, I mean how do you do that?!

My DP is excited about TTC but in his own way, he never has showed excitement and I don't get much from him when I'm rambling on about what I've found on the internet and a baby name I love! So coming on here is greatttt!

New Years Eve has a whole new meaning this year, and I cannot wait for it to come around!

I hope the new year brings us all what we are waiting for!

Biggest shocker of all I'm 19 and partner 21. Been together 3 and a half years and lived together for 3! We're so excited to be TTC, I can't wait for our BFP! We've been saving for a year so it's a long time coming. I'm also training to be a social worker.
Most of our family are supportive and excited for us.
This is what I'm here to do, be. a mummy and in my eyes my life won't start until I am.
I hope we all get our BFP'S soon!

The countdown until Jan is on and time is going slowlyyyy!!

I'm far too excited, already reading baby books and picking names out that I like. Just hope I don't have to wait too long for a BFP!

What a lovely thread, not currently TTC but I've just turned 23 and I have 8 month old twins, it took us nearly 18 months to conceive and in the end I was so stressed we decided to give it a little break and what do you know.. pregnant with two within a week of taking a break. Relaxing and taking the pressure off and having sex to be together and have fun worked for us. I was at the end of my teather after 17 months of temping and charts and ovulation tests, so my advice in the nicest possible way is to relax and not put too much pressure on it all and expect things to happen right away, even with the healthiest of parents it can take its time.

You all sound so wonderful and this is such an exciting time for you all, my sincerest best wishes for you baby dust and sexy underwear to you all
