Hi. This is my first month TTC #1. Came off the pill 2 and a half weeks ago. Have felt bloated, tired and crampy the past couple of days and have had the sneaking suspicion I may be imagining pregnancy symptoms because I've been really broody the past couple of days. HOWEVER, at 4pm I went to the loo and there was a small amount of blood there. Only a few drops of 'fresh' looking blood (sorry if TMI) and it seems to have stopped now, so don't think it's the start of my period. This is either spotting because I only stopped the pill 2 and a half weeks ago (although I've never spotted before, even when I've stopped taking the pill for a few months, which I have done on a few occasions); or wishful thinking alert is it an implantation bleed? However, when I consulted Dr Google (!) it says implantation bleeding usually occurs about 6-12 days after ovulation. But, (calculating rather roughly from the first day of my post-pill bleed), I'm only on CD14, so for this to be the case I would have had to have ovulated straight after / just a few days after I finished bleeding (I bled from days 1-4). Surely that can't be possible?!? Although saying this, I have a friend who got pregnant because she was 3 days starting her next pill packet (mix-up with getting the prescription) so she must have ovulated straight away after finishing her 1-week break. My head is fried! What's going on?!?

Hi Kitkat, I have to say it seems most unlikely that you are pregnant so soon after coming off the pill. It may occasionally happen but normally you would need at least 5-10 days post 'period' before ovulation, and then a further 7-10 days before implantation. So I think the earliest you would be likely to experience implantation bleeding would be around CD 17...and that would be very EARLY. I suspect it's nothing significant but a result of the hormonal changes from coming off the pill.
Are you charting to find out when you normally ovulate? If not I would recommend you do as it is very helpful when TTC.
Good luck!

Hi baggy.

Thanks for your reply. In a moment of insanity this morning I decided to POAS and of course it was a BFN, (I don't know what else I was expecting, even if I pregnant it would have been too early to test). In a way the disappointment has done me good though. I feel that the crazy half of my brain has taken over these past few days and now the rational side is back in charge and reminding me that all of this spotting / odd cramping / bloating I've been feeling is almost certainly just my body adjusting to coming off the pill after about 3 and a half years of being on it, and I feel a bit calmer now (only a bit though, I'm sure 'crazy brain' will be back in charge eventually)! Grin
