Implantation bleeding, random period or something else?

Hello all, hoping you can help as I'm a bit clueless! To try to avoid drip feeding, a bit of background - have DD who is almost 2 who we were very fortunate to conceive immediately after I came off the pill.

We have just starting trying for number 2 and I came off the pill beginning of Oct, had a few light spotting days, then a proper period 1st Nov. Yesterday (so effectively day 14) I had a heavy but very short lived bleed, quite a bit of fresh looking red blood (sorry if TMI) which then stopped almost as soon as it began and I've had nothing else since, not even any light spotting. I feel fine, only a slight ache in my tummy yesterday but that's all.

Mentioned it to a friend today, she suggested it may be implantation bleeding? I never had this first time around so have no idea, but I had thought that tended to be a small amount, more like spotting? Does anyone have any experience or suggestions? Or does it seem likely to just be my body sorting itself out after the pill? Another friend almost mentioned the possibility of a very early miscarriage but I think that seems unlikely and would have expected more pain if so. I would really welcome any thoughts on what might be going on!

Hi Cakebaker, I had bleeding mid cycle this month (wednesday and yesterday, cd 21 and 22 for me, I have a long cycle and usually ov on one of these days). People on the Nov bus told be this can happen over ovulation. I was a bit shocked as I've never bled at ov time before, ever!

Thanks Flymo. Was your bleeding quite heavy or just spotting? It's the heavy bleed that has worried me a bit, I don't know anyone who's had this so just bothering me a bit.

It was spotting, cake, so no, not the same as what you've had. Sorry not helpful. I would say that coming off the pill in Oct was probably the cause of your mid-cycle bleed, but check with your doc

Watching this because I've had an unexpected bleed. Day 21, over within 3 days, but brown, almost black blood (sorry also giving TMI). Urgh, bloody periods!

By way of an update, I decided to go to the docs about this as wanted to get to the bottom of it if possible and put my mind at rest. Had a thorough check over and all seemed normal, docs best guess was that my cycle is still returning to normal after the pill but that that is an educated guess really and I need to go back if it happens again. They took a swab to check for infection so will wait on the results next week but the doc said I would most likely not have one due to no other symptoms. Glad to have been checked out.
