Ovulation tests and temping?

Hi I've been lurking around here for a few months but never really posted before, so forgive me for not using all the right acronyms. Blush I've only been ttc for a short while (this is cycle 4) and until this month we had been trying to dtd on a fairly regular basis to see what happened but as that wasn't really working I thought I'd try the Sperm meets egg plan (think that's the right name for it) so my husband and I have been dtd from cycle day 8. On day 10 I used an ovulation test (clear blue one with a smiley face or just a circle) I had a smiley face. So following the plan we dtd that day and the next two after and today is our day off before we dtd tomorrow for a last try. In addition to this I started temping and my temperature isn't really showing that ovulation has happened. As you would expect on cycle day 13. I have a very 'rocky mountain' chart the last few days. CD10 spike in temp CD11 drop in temp CD12 spike in temp for a drop again in CD13. I was just wondering if anyone else has experienced this? I don't want to stop dtd too early and miss our chance this month. Should I keep using the ovulation tests? Thanks!

Hi, I'm not sure if it will help but I read a post on another website from a natural fertility expert. It was quite interesting and was mostly about recognising your bodies signs leading up to and during fertility. It may be worth a read as I think sometimes we aren't aware of things that as happening because they just do if you get what I mean. Anyway the link to the post is forum.prideangel.com/default.aspx?g=posts&t=537 Hope it helps. Keep smiling!! xx

Thanks for posting this link, it's been really helpful. My cm has been egg white/ wet stage the last few days so I'm going to assume I am fertile and keep dtd then maybe do it every other day for the rest of the week. Grin

Hi, I would keep dtd every other day. Might be that despite the smiley face you did not ovulate and your body might try later again. You should get a sustained high temperature, but you can still have the odd dip, as long as overall the temp stays high - with temping you're looking at trends not at individual temperatures.

So have you been temping for long? Is your chart normally stable?
It could be your thermometer, or perhaps you've been waking up during the night or taken temps at later times?

I did another couple of tests one on day 12 and it was just a circle then another today (day 14) and I've got another smiley face. Told my hubby we need to dtd tonight and for the next couple of days. Fingers crossed I ovulate this time.

This is my first month of temping so it's all new to me. I've had a couple of days where I've woken up for a second then gone back to sleep, didn't really think that would impact my readings? Blush

I'm using fertility friend to track it so I think that identifies ovulation from the temperatures.
