This is my very first message on any site ever...let alone a TTC forum. We've been trying for 7 months but nothing yet. Due on Tuesday. I think every month that we have been trying someone else I know has conceived. Trying not to get stressed but at 40 it's difficult not to. Why do people keep asking if i'm "pregnant yet" like i'm taking my time! :-( Just thought i'd reach out as feeling pretty down. I'm sorry if i'm being ridiculous....I know there are thousands of you who have been trying for far far longer.

Your GP should start investigations after 6 months of ttc as you are over 35. If you would consider going down the road of intervention, it might be worthwhile getting the ball rolling.

She told me to come back after 8-9 months of trying. I should have lied! ;-)

That's crazy. I was 35 and got tested straightaway after 6 months.

Go back armed with the NICE Guidelines (available online)?

I'll make an appointment on Monday...thank you. Don't know why I feel I have to wait, silly really.
Thank you :-)

Unfortunately, there is a lot of inequality in fertility services and many of the women on this board have had to push to get things moving.

I came off the pill when I was 40 (nearer 41 actually). I was told it can take a year to conceive if you've been on the pill, so after that time I had every test available in our area, and just when they were talking about testing my husband it happened.

So fourteen months of trying. I hope it happens more quickly for you. It is stressful and other people's jocular remarks really don't help.

There's no way to predict which is the most frustrating thing in the world! 14 months seems such a long time but gives me hope! Must get the ball rolling with GP. I came off pill 7 months ago so perhaps that is why.
Thanks for your message....really reassuring. Are you trying for more?
